2 solid starters + 2 solid depth guys = solid draft.

 

not sure what the problem with that is unless you expect every year to be the addition of 5+ starters and anything less is a disappointment.

 

I totally agree with what you said, but the problem is that if you listen to more than a few people's comments, one may be led to believe that the Huddle is rife with unrealistic G-man apologists who thinks that every pick that he makes turns to gold (especially one that doesn't know the deeper culture of this place).

 

I have heard some pretty outlandish and off the mark comments directed towards myself and others if we dare question a single one of Gettleman's moves--draft, or otherwise---even though I like his moves overall.

I don't like to look at the negative side of things but you do have a point op. We could tamper our expectations because anyone can make a mistake especially when it comes to drafting young college players. I think the Panthers will be fine because there is a lot of work that goes into the draft. Remember these guys start the scouting process in the summer all the way up to April's draft. I think Gettleman has his department in check and the Panthers will take the BPA in each round. You have to have faith in your team. Every team goes through disappoint at some point, lets just hope we take our bumps and bruises early and we are in the mix come January.

Yep Barner is his only 'bad' pick, and he was a 6th rounder so whatever...

 

Like Gman said, anything 4th-6th round is a bonus. Always nice to see us pick up guys like Bene and Boston though.

Yeh we can hit and miss on picks, anyone who thinks every pick should result in a contributor doesn't understand the draft. But the thing that keeps me positive is that Gman has the right approach too the draft. Draft based on film and draft BPA instead of reaching.

I think this team is already better than last year. The optimism of a successful draft only adds to the excitement. There isn't likely room for 5 starters from the draft. As a team gets better, the draft adds a key piece or two and mostly depth. Last years draft was as much a function of the team we were last year and DGs success in the draft. Now if he gets 5 more starters from the draft...this team is mostly loaded. If that makes sense.

Sorry dude...the thread sucks. It is an example of what happens this time of year. No real news, so the same teenage members start thread after thread about stupid poo...just to get attention.

But, it us better than the stranded on the side of the road naked thread...that one may be a HOF shitty thread.
