Watched a couple movies recently that im sure most of you saw..

The Big Lebowski - was not impressed.. i can understand why people like it but i thought it was very Meh.. John Goodman was crazy in that movie, holy poo..

 

The Grand Budapest Hotel - funny and cute, so different from a lot of stuff out there right now.. loved it.. it wasn't top 10 or even top 100 for that matter, but a good watch nonetheless..

 

Big Hero 6 - saw it in theaters with my son and was crying throughout the whole movie- even the little short film in the beginning with the little dog has me tearing up.. but just got it on redbox so my daughter could see it too.. just as good as before, not as many tears this time but still a great watch with the kids on a rainy afternoon..

 

Lost Boys - omg, i feel asleep during that poo.. I went in knowing is it a 'classic' - but i have a theory that if you go back and watch a 'classic' that you didnt see during the time it came out - it usually just is a meh movie.. with all the vampire movies we have seen since the Lost Boys came out (Interview w/Vampire, all the Blade movies, Van Helsing, 40 days of night, etc.) going back and watching this vampire flick just didnt do it for me..

like i said, i think it is because i missed it when it came out and just got around to it like a month ago.. compared to all the Vampire/Zombie/Apocalypse movies we have seen today- Lost Boy was pretty tame and took a while to get going.. I fell asleep

Lebowski needs more than one watching to appreciate, and the plot is irrelevant - it's about the performances and the vibe not the story. But that's not everyone's cup of tea. It's kind of an art film for guys.

Lebowski is super nuanced from a stoners perspective.

But cwg is right. Multiple viewings uncovers much more.

I liked Lost Boys. Not a fav but good. 2.5 stars.

Anything by Wes Anderson is tops for me. Back to the stoner perspective. He takes specificity to such a high level that you can't help but love that.

His work reminds me of National Geographic pull outs of cross sections of a ship or an island.

He has never made a bad film imo.
