Has there ever been a draft for us as wide open as this one?

Sure, no fans truely know which direction their team will go in the draft, if they did then that means the front office isn't doing their job well. However, with that being said, this is probably as wide open of a draft I have seen. Last year and the year before, you went into the draft with a pretty good idea or maybe just 2-3 positions we as fans knew for sure we would draft.

2 seasons ago, it was pretty much a given we would go D line and hence, a "Star" was born. Last year we pretty much knew O line or WR would be the pick, hence we got KB. This year?! I truly feel aside from maybe TE and QB that we could draft any position in the 1st round and not be shocked.

I could just as easily see a RB, DE, DB, LB, DT etc drafted in the 1st round and not be the least bit suprised. Now imagine if last year or the year before we went into the draft with a legit possibility we could very well draft a RB or LB, unheard of!

I wonder if this year, Gman and company are working extra harder at keeping secrets on who we visit. Someone mentioned that Proehl stopped tweeting his WR visits. In any event, I cant remember being THIS clueless on who we select in the 1st just shy of 3 weeks until draft time.

I was thinking the exact same thing this morning...which frightens me a little. But to your point, I think that it's not just us. It feels like so many teams could draft anyone. The whole draft is wide open which not only makes it exciting to watch unfold this year but really brings the possibility that almost anyone could fall to us. I feel like the potential for trades up and down the first round are higher than I can remember. So many teams seem to be able to go in so many directions that it just leaves me having no clue about what happens on 30 April. Not that I had much of a clue in the first place.

If Hurney were pulling the lever... we might not be thinking the same thing. We've made the playoffs two years and GM seems to have the midas touch with talent evaluation... in the draft and free agency.

We have a reason to be optimistic. Feels good knowing that whatever we do.... we're going to get better.

The FO has had a very good offseason as far as acquisitions to allow for it to be wide open. Kudos to them, for putting us in this position.

It will all be for not though, if we miss on our picks. Gettleman doesn't have a history doing this, so I do feel that we will be drafting players that will come in and add to that "core" that RR and Gets talk about religeously. I'm just looking forward to day 1

Stopped reading at "truely".

Yet, you felt compelled to point it out as if anyone gave a fug.. Interesting.

I think you're right.  I wonder how DG and company feel about this draft in regards to not being bound some of the other distractions in times past.  DG has put this team in a good place and anyone who thinks otherwise has issues.  I am excited.  Hell, I'd in my mind I'm going through every position and I can see the cats picking for each of them.. Tis a good feeling.

    • I think he fits, he's a two way player and had over or around 50 hits last season. Also I'm just going off what I heard. I can say he's definitely the top target FA wise, there are others via FA and trades that are also high on the list. They will go through the top players at every position and run the phones ragged trade wise.
    • Right and we don't even have to leave the same subgenre to see far superior lyricists. La Chat and Gangsta Boo are pioneers of southern hip hop that paved the way for the Glorilla's and Cardi B's.
    • I don't know much about her music.  I just didn't understand calling it horrible, because I listen to rap, and it's not like she has terrible flow for example.  Plenty of male rappers delve into the sex side of things.  I remember back in the 90's guys like Ma$e and Cam'ron had album covers with their shirt off for whatever reason.  Didn't stop me from bumpin the album. I prefer the lyricist too, but I don't hate on the others.  I just don't listen.  I am not defending her personally at all, just the idea that female rappers should be held to some higher standard. Once I no longer enjoy the music or message, I just put it down.  If I like something, I am passionate about it.  For example, 2023 was the last Grey Day for me, as G59 has sold out completely and gone against everything they stood for.  I don't say Scrim and Ruby are destroying the genre, though lol.
