Not at all giving up on Ealy, exactly the opposite. If Ealy and a young high draft pick like Odi can take over the edge for us, or even be part of a rotation with CJ and Alexander we will win a lot of games. Plus it will give us leverage in contact negotiations with CJ because we will have high level/talent youth behind him at the position. Do you realize what CJs cap number is next year it's $15 million? If he tries to bend us over for an extension he might seriously be gone which will open a huge hole in the dline. DE is a real possibility because as Getty always says it's not just about this year it's about sustained success.

Looking at that I see safety as the most glaring need but that is unweighted. Tackle doesn't look awful IMO.

 

I just don't know about tackle.  I really want to be optimistic because of DGs track record so far but we're working with Oher, Chandler, and Martin.  I'd love for them to work out but boy, they've had doozies of careers so far.

People were projecting Melvin White as our #1 CB at this point last year so I'd say we've definitely improved in that department haha

He ha a couple of WTF moments, but overall played well. With that i would like to see a saftey taken to replace him in passing situations.

I think it's obvious we need another pass rusher. Gettleman hasen't even brought in a vet for the rotation which almost confirms my thoughts that Odi has a high probability of being the pick at 25...This also would give us leverage with CJ next year who will be a huge chunk of our cap space that should really only be paid to QBs

Maybe, Gman didn't bring in any FA DEs because he is counting on Frank to have a big bounce back year. With Ealy, and Addison playing well, we have the potential for 4 really good DEs.

Also, CJs contract numbers go down next year(16). If he continues to play at a high level. He will be paid accordingly, and his cap hit won't seem so high.

The way our roster is set up, with no real glaring holes. Gman is free to take the very best talent in each round. How can that not make you giddy for the future?

That said. A safety to get Harper off the field. Or a LT to push or pass Oher. Either one would be fine by me. But, as I said. This year, I am not even trying to figure out what Gman will do with that first pick.

I think Gman will go with BPA. I do think OT/WR/S would be in the 1st round unless a DE/lb drops we didn't think would. I do agree if we did get a DE it would help with contract negotiations with CJ later on. I mean that contract he got some qb's were getting about a year ago or close to it. I just cant wait so we can see our draft and what happens with the remaining FA.

1. OT (interior of our offensive line is solid, but we need better depth at LT and RT, also keeps Olsen from having to pass block)

2. WR (Would like a sure-handed #2 target for Cam so they can't double KB or Olsen)

3. CB (Would like to see Bene at the nickel, plus depth in case we don't / can't re-sign Norman

4. S (Need more talent in case Coleman doesn't work out and Boston regresses)
