KR/WR Robinson among Panthers' cuts

The Panthers released Ryne Robinson today, ending his attempt to come back from a knee injury to regain his former kick-returning job. He was also vying to be a backup receiver, but appeared to have lost a step as a result of the knee injury suffered in the 2008 training camp.

The Panthers also released defensive lineman Lorenzo Williams and offensive tackle Gerald Cadogen, and played guard C.J. Davis on injured reserve. They have one more player to release by Tuesday in order to reach the NFL's roster limit of 75.

They'll make more cuts by Saturday to reach the 53-man limit for the regular season. But look for some players from elsewhere to be on the final roster, too. Most likely positions to watch: defensive tackle, offensive line, wide receiver and possibly long snapper.
