Good question. Changes seemingly weekly for me.

Instead of ranking based on what they've put recently, I'll just rank artists still dropping music but based off of their entire catalogs.

1. Lupe (Last 3 albums are nothing compared to his first two)

2. Kendrick (Haven't gotten into TPAB yet, need to listen more to appreciate it still)

3. Cudi (Same with Lupe. Haven't felt it as much after MOTM I & II)

4. Drake (Again, like everything Take Care and earlier much more than his recent stuff)

5. Kanye (Didn't get into Yeezus or Watch The Throne, so same as everyone else on this list I guess)

Honorable mention to Chance, who just needs a bigger catalog to get onto this list. B.o.B can also have an honorable mention, but he fell off super early into his career. His last album was so beyond trash.

Up and coming artists...

1. Chance

2. DeLaZoo (Lyrically up my ally, but most people can't get past his weird whiteboy vocals)

3. Joey (NYC)

4. Dyme-A-Duzin (NYC)

5. A-1 (San Fran)

Honorable mention to Jarren Benton (LA) and Kurs (Philly). Only listened to both in cyphers, but damn did they blow me away. Also honorable mention to Astro (NYC) who is gonna be sick once he starts getting older. Dominic Lord (NYC) can also have a shoutout.

The tonality of Kendrick's voice on Pimp a Butterfly has such a better range than that Maad City album; it's way more in line with my aesthetic...also there's some dope sampling. King Kunta (ESPECIALLY) and Wesley's Theory are top notch.  Honestly, I haven't been able to get into him at all but he's starting to grow on me...there's just something about him that still throws me off.

Logic is one I'm really liking right now but haven't discovered a ton on the hip-hop side recently.

There's three standing out for me: Kendrick Lamar, Black Milk, & Logic

Rick Ross, Rich Homie Quan, and Kevin Gates make some seriously good songs to blast in the car.

Cudi had some really chill, relaxing songs on Man On The Moon.

Big fan of Chance the Rapper and the new stuff he is doing with The Social Experiment.

Outkast is by far the best (and most revolutionary) rap duo/group ever.

Top 5 Upcoming

1. Mick Jenkins- Check this do out. Start with Martyrs, you won't be disappointed.

2. QuESt- This guy's beat and flow combination is sick. Start with Hunger and Nowhere to go.

3. Futuristic- Crazy lyrics and flow. Doesn't have too much out right now but check out The Greatest and No Way to start.

4. King Los- Not really new, but still kind of unknown to a lot of people. One of the most talented rappers out there for sure.

5. Isaiah Rashad- Can't lie haven't listened to too much of him, but from what I have heard he is a beast. Resembles Kendrick a lot.

King Los has an awesome free-style on the Five Fingers of Death on Sway in the Morning on YouTube.

Isaiah Rashad is signed to TDE so I'm excited to see what he can put out.

One of the best freestyles I have ever heard imo.

Who told you that? His new album is almost universally praised

Unless you like Young Thug or future type stuff....then yeah you might not like it

I really hope no one here listens to young thug hahaha. The number one complaint I heard on the album was poor production...they weren't feeling his beats at all. That's not that big of a problem to me, but that just means I probably wouldn't play it when I'm at a party or with my friends just chilling.

Fetty wap good up and coming guy

Yeah I like him, good party music. But I feel like a lot of people on this board would think he's trash haha. There's also probably a huge age difference between me and a lot of people on here though.
