Curious as to why no Strong pre-draft visit.

I was just going to post an article about how bleacher report does not belong on the internet.

If you watched the NCAA national championship game, then you heard Bleacher Report getting it's ad time. It's a multimillion dollar Internet behemoth that is gradually improving its quality, viability and credibility.

Now, I am going to read the article...

who do you like?

any of the 1st and 2nd round WRs. lol If we get strong ill be happy but like I said I think we need a burner.

perhaps we have strong and maybe we can eventually find a long term #3 with serious speed

In the end, ill take route running over straight line speed anyday

there are a few fast guys in the later rounds. I personally like Conley from UGA . He is not the only one.  isn't Strong a 4.45 guy?Maybe that doesn't translate to game speed.

As for me, I will just get some comfort getting another young WR with some upside and obvious YAC ability, but I prefer Perriman, Agholor and Hardy.

Perriman just oozes explosive potential, and I have been saying that since I first saw him. Agholor had a fairly fast time in the 40, but when you watch him on tape, he looks even faster (like he has another gear), and he has nice hands and runs nice routes. Hardy, though slower, also has maybe the best hands and runs the best routes. Though maybe not as athletic on tape than some others, Hardy always seems to put himself in a position to make plays.

That's just my abridged break down of my three favorite receivers in the draft. And to tell you the truth, I like them all more than I like Strong in fitting with our needs. But, I have literally been watching Strong for going on two years, and if he ends up being picked above or instead of either of them, I am not going to throw a hissy fit.

looks like we have some good options. Where are these likely to be available?

Strong's speed definitely does not translate to game speed. Many thought he would be in the 4.6 range prior to the combine based on tape. Running a 4.4 was shocking.

Well, that's the question. Perriman is rising and may be gone by our first time on the clock, as may Strong, but Agholor and Hardy may or may not be there when we pick in the second. There has been some talk of Agholor going in the first, but as for us, we haven't even worked him out.

Cian does really good write ups on X's and O's. he wrote one up on how Carolina had a very bad game plan vs. the vikings last season. he includes gifs and still pics to help support his writings. he is really good.

every person that writes on bleacher is not bad. bleacher has improved a lot over the years, and they have actually hired some real writers.

Not everything on bleacher report is good but I find a lot of useful info on their app. They also use other sites articles so you get to read articles from everywhere. I'm not saying the anti- Strong article is fact but I figured people need to hear all the bad about him and get all the info about him before deciding on what you think of him. I was on the Strong bandwagon but this article has convinced me that maybe other WR prospects are the better option.

just so you know, teams can (and are) skype with potential draft picks and it won't count as an official "meeting" with the prospect.

just because we haven't called him in doesn't mean that we haven't been talking to him.

I love Agholor and Hardy, but I wouldn't touch Perriman until the 3rd. Reminds me of Cordarrelle Patterson. He's not a great route runner and doesn't have great hands, just size and speed. All the potential in the world, but I just don't want a guy like that in the 1st. I don't think Agholor makes it to our 2nd rounder. I'd be fine with him in the 1st though, even over Strong. I would want DGB in the 1st but obviously we aren't targeting him. Hardy in the 3rd please sign me up. I'd be fine with Strong in the 1st, but the flaw pointed out in that article hold very true, and that concerns me a bit. If Ricky and DG want him though then I'll be happy.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
