Or Tiny was just a really shitty football players and NFL teams weren't fooled by hype.

Given that Tiny was shut down after the preseason and had double knee surgery without suffering an injury, I'd say those reports were pretty accurate. Teams don't want to waste a draft pick on a guy who wont play his 1st year and after which the prognosis for recovery is very uncertain.

Here's a story on him:

Richardson says that teams found out during the NFL Combine that he had knee issues, but Scott Carasik indicated that teams were wary of his arthritic knees in January—and felt he may only have a 4-5 year career.

Arthritic knees would be quite the downer, and Richardson himself told the gathered media it was a "cartilage thing." If it's anything like former Blazer and Timberwolves shooting guard Brandon Roy's knees—where he suffered from a condition (osteoarthritis) that resulted in cartilage degeneration—then the outlook is grim. If you're unfamiliar with Roy's story, it could be a precautionary tale.

Injury doesn't change the fact that James was a better prospect for the Pro level.

Not necessarily.  If you have a major need at RT and you think there's a guy on the board who is a potential top NFL RT, I think most teams would take him at #19.  Here recently, we've been seeing some OGs going in the top 10.  A few years ago that would've been unheard of.

I said usually which is accurate. James was ranked in the 30s-40s by the media and many teams. 19th really wasn't that huge of a reach but he went that high because Miami projected him as a future franchise LT, not as a RT and probably through intel thought they might not be able to get him at their 2nd round pick which may or not be the case. All we know is that the Panthers were projecting him as a LT and Gettleman said he played LT which made him feel good about their evaluation process. We have no idea if he would have taken James over Kelvin. All that can be inferred from his comments is that James was under consideration for our pick.

I'm not even sure what we are arguing. C47 said James was a considered to be a 3rd round pick and that Landry was considered to be a 4th round pick by the media. Both of which are flat out wrong and I proved that. James went a round higher than he was projected to which isn't crazy and may or not have been a reach, but some teams thought it was when Miami traded up to 19th to get him when in all likelihood he could have been had a little later. He was solid at RT and not solid at LT. If he ends up as just a solid RT then the 2nd round grade was probably correct and they did reach a bit. If he turns into a pro bowl RT or LT then the Dolphins made a great move. That determination can't be made for quite a while.

If the point is that the teams are right and the media is wrong then take Marcus Smith for example. He was considered a reach by the media at 26th by the Eagles and he sucked. The draft is not an exact science and both teams and media get some wrong, but more often than not they get them right.

Which is reflected in every single ranking I posted. What the hell is your point? He was still a 2nd round prospect before the injury stuff came to light.

Not sure why this Bartin guy always thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, despite the fact that he simply cannot comprehend opposing points of view.

When will people understand that media "big boards" mean absolutely NOTHING.  They should all come with the disclaimer:  For entertainment purposes only.

I have never said big boards are gospel. Just that in general they are pretty close to being correct and they do mean something because a lot of these media members get info from teams. I've heard former scouts and GM's say that teams actually pay attention to where the media has players ranked because they feel there is some useful information that can be gleaned from them because part of being a good drafter is being able to project where players are going to fall and how other teams are going to draft. Everything is taken into account.
