CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

The Pirates had the second best record in the league and they're done..... brutal.....

Congrats to the Cubs though, what a team.  Theo Epstein has to be one of the best executives in sports history.  As a baseball fan, Cubs/Cards is going to be an incredible series.  fug the Cardinals always, GCG

I mean they won like one more game than us but the one and done game is brutal and needs to be changed to a best of 3, imo.  Arrieta has been unhittable and my Pirate friends knew this was coming.   Good baseball teams have good teams all around with a good rotation, so one game is just stupid, even though it worked out for my Cubs this time.

To win like that without Bryant or Rizzo even getting a hit is great.  I feel we're just as good as any other team right now.

Also as amazing as Jake as been, solid as Lester has been, and the great play of Schwauber/Bryant/Rizzo, the BEST pickup and the best thing the Cubs did was signing Madden this year.    And yes it all starts with Epstein.  What a great farm system too.

I just wanted to be competitive this year with our new guys.  I never expected us to make it to the playoffs, or win the WC or the NLDS but here go, to the NLCS.  Epstein and Madden knew this team could do this, and I questioned the Lester signing because I didn't know we were ready, but they did.  Madden should win manager of the year.  Winning in the playoffs with so many rookies is crazy.   I feel we can beat anyone and this could be our year, but you never know.  Regardless we'll be good for a long time with these young stars.

After another disappointing season in the OC I'm pulling for the Cubbies. The fan base and team deserve a championship.

-1B Anthony Rizzo (25): .278/.387/.512, 5.5 fWAR in 701 PA

-2B Addison Russell (21): .242/.307/.389, 2.9 fWAR in 523 PA

-SS Starlin Castro (25): .265/.296/.375, 0.8 fWAR in 578 PA

-3B Kris Bryant (23): .275/.369/.488, 6.5 fWAR in 650 PA

-RF Jorge Soler (23): .262/.324/.399, 0.1 fWAR in 404 PA

-C/OF Kyle Schwarber (23): .246/.355/.487, 1.9 fWAR in 273 PA

The young talent on this team is amazing and they're a fun team to watch. Being a big time Halos fan I'm obviously a big Trout fan but I honestly think Schwarber might already be the best hitter in baseball.

I'm hoping Baez has a good NLCS so they'll feel more comfortable trading Starlin to the Halos this offseason! I need a 2B badly! I can't recall a more entertaining postseason that didn't involve my team than this one! I love seeing all the young guys make such a huge impact and it starts with this team!

Anyway goodluck in the NLCS (hopefully it's against the Mets! Fug the Dodgers) also that Go Cubs Go song playing after the final out against the Cubs is a catchy tune!

Bummer, last team I wanted in the WS is the Mets.

Hellova season though, as a Dodger fan so envious of your manager Joe Maddon.

I hope we blow out Mattingly and can find a leader in the same mold as yours.

If the Royals don't make it in I'm done with baseball this year. Bluejays/Mets, the World Series no one watched outside of New York.

We totally fell apart.  Maybe youth and we just got tired.  The pitching was terrible, we had too many strikeouts, and man, the errors.  We need to do nothing but take ground balls all off season like a little league team.   I question some of Madden's choices in this series, but he was so good previously.   I mean game 3, he brings in Cahill, who is trash and throws into the dirt like 80% of the time.  Runner gets to third, and we keep Cahill in there, what's he do?  More dirt balls and one gets by.  That started the derailment.

We should be more prepared next year.  We need better pitching past Arrieta and Lester.   Wonder if the front office would splurge on someone like David Price?   We need to work on the strikeouts and we need a leadoff hitter that bats for more average.  When you have Fowler who swings for the fences on every pitch, it doesn't jump start enough when it counts.  Although, we scored runs this season easily, so I don't know, we just went into slump.

    • Super raw, not sure he is worth a top 10 pick.  Primary a pass rusher.  A bit like Burns, very fast athletic but doesnt always follow the play.  His highlights look good but when you watch him play you can see he is just raw and needs to develop
    • Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.
    • Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.
