Voth looks at the history of our top three draft slots

Could've taken Revis with that 14th pick.

(Beason was still a good pick though)

Sadly, the list of players we "could have taken" when Hurney was running the draft is kind of a depressing read.

Would've been nice to have on through rookie contract, but no thanks on dealing with the yearly holdout threats and demands for a new contract that followed.

2013

1 (14) DT Star Lotulelei

2 (44) DT Kawann Short

3 (74) Pick was traded by Hurney to move up the prior year and get Frank Alexander

There's still time for that one to pan out. He could be the 3rd or even 2nd best DE on our roster.

That pick should have been Keenan Allen and the Amini pick should have been Jeffery. It really grinds my gears how much we whiffed on that one. I just can't let it go. I would be awesome if we could get him in FA next year should Chicago fail to lock him up. But Gman won't pay it and with Marshall shipped out he surely gets locked up by Chicago anywho.

I like Jeffrey but I think the Amini pick should have been Cordy Glenn.

True, we missed big time with both those picks. All I'm saying is that I've still got hope that Frank Alexander can be a good DE for us, and maybe even beat out Ealy for the starting job in training camp. He's got all the p-word in the world.
