Cedric Still Going In The First?

I'm no Dr. Andrews but big guy in weight + leg injury.... I wouldnt touch him in the first. Second Round without hesitation but no @ 25.

I wouldnt hate the pick but I wouldnt make the pick ...

Gettleman's reasoning should be a quick finger point to Kugbila and Otah.

Everycase is not the same but thats a big gamble with the first pick.

Yeah.  Big guys do have a tough time recovering from these.

If it were me, I probably wouldn't do it, but I won't have a meltdown if we do.

Texas A&M's 247sports.com site:

"NFL Analyst: Ogbuehi will go in first round... after moving to the left side of the line following the departure of first-round pick Jake Matthews, Ogbuehi struggled...Still,..Lance Zierlein , a draft analyst for NFL.com that is based in Houston, said on Tuesday that he [has "no doubt"] Ogbuehi [is] going in the first round... Zierlein covers the draft prospects from the state of Texas very closely and is well-connected in the NFL. He says that, after his conversations with teams, he is sure that Ogbuehi will be a first-rounder."

This pick would disappoint me after Gettleman stating multiple times that first round picks should be able to step in and contribute immediately. Cedric is pretty weak at the point of attack and gave up lots of sacks in the SEC. He has some nice athletic traits but knee injuries on big men are never good and I can't help but think of Otah. I want our first rounder starting week 1 wherever he plays.

Makes me extremely nervous and can't say I'd be giddy, but what the h#ll. No guts no glory, I just want an OT. If this is the pick of the GeniusMan, so be it. Most of the last calendar year this guy was a top 5 overall pick in mocks.

I never been a fan of Cedric. I believe he can fall to the third round because of injury so I wouldn't be happy if we drafted him in the first. I have recently heard that he could go in the first round and the panthers have been interested in him so maybe we do go after him.

I'm not comparing a knee to a heart. I'm comparing Gettleman to other GMs. He wasn't easily scared off by health questions when others were.

Jeff Otah was a different body type with a different personality. If we make the pick I will feel good about it because Gettleman will do his homework on the injury.

If you use Star as an example, then you're comparing a knee with a heart.

Sure, DG picked Star despite a health issue that was cleared prior to the draft.  However, I don't think one can use this situation to say DG will pick a guy with severe knee problems in the first round carte-blanche and sound logical.

Just not on the same scale.  Outside the realm of what could be a safe assumption imo.
