Best Fanspeak draft i have done so far

working on my own big board and team-by-team draft, but i still check out Fanspeak once in a while. i used the Drafttek rankings, as i find them the most reasonable of all the ones Fanspeak lists. i thought the following draft was very intriguing, so much so that i wanted to share and get the Huddle's input.

1st Round:

Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia

The Panthers rave about the kid, and i will admit, begrudgingly, that RB is a need for the Panthers. I will also admit that Gurley could be a once in a decade talent if he can stay healthy. If Shaq Thompson had still been on the board, i would have taken him instead. But Thompson was taken shortly before the Panthers' pick. Gurley was the best talent on the board when the Panthers were up to pick.

2nd Round:

Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF

Perriman may not make it to 57. if he does, then i would be willing to bet that he would be the BPA in Gettleman's mind. Perriman is a shifty, quick receiver. he is tall and is able to create separation. oh and he is top-end type fast, something the Panthers are looking for. this is a value pick if he's there.

3rd Round:

Rob Haverstein, OT, Wisconsin

i will be honest and say that i dont know much about Haverstein. I think Zod gave a good review of the guy a few weeks ago. He played for a school in a power conference, facing top DL talent regularly. If any of you Huddlers could enlighten me to this kid and his game tape, i would appreciate it. for those that want to know, Justin Hardy was the top prospect on the board, but having just taken Perriman in the second round, i dont think WR warranted two draft picks.

4th Round:

Jacoby Glenn, CB, UCF

when reading Glenn's draft profile on NFL.com, i kept thinking... "wow, sounds like a Gettleman pick". all his issues can be taught out of him by our outstanding secondary coach. this kid is fast and tall. we need that in our secondary.

5th Round:

5a: Jeremiah Poutasi, G, Utah

has played at both tackle positions, but projects more as a guard. he is at least great depth for our guards, and could possibly challenge for starting position at either tackle spot. He is another one whose issues seem to be teachable. versatility won me over here. as did 6'5", 335. haha.

5b: Jake Ryan, LB, Michigan

Ryan seems to have the attitude and physical gifts to play the position. his profile states that he mainly needs more reps and his "instincts" need work. with Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis both there to mentor him, i think his instincts will be just fine.

5c: Max Garcia, C, Florida

has experience at tackle and started a whole season at guard. another versatile player, but this one could one day take over for Ryan Kalil when he decides to hang up the cleats. in the mean time, he can serve as great depth. was a team captain and "beloved by his teammates, fans, and coaches" sounds like a character guy, and thats the type of guy this organization targets.

6th Round:

Adrian Amos, S, Penn State

"Amos checks all the boxes when it comes to strong football intelligence, a willingness to digest tape and cover skills." this makes me think of another Gettleman pick. not to mention the kid ran a 4.37 and a 4.4 40-time. fast and intelligent? yes please. oh and he is at least of average height for a safety.

7th Round:

Tyeler Davison, DT, Fresno State

"Nicknamed "Rhino" due to playing style"? yes please. has experience on the outside at DE, and "can play all three downs if called upon to do so. With his athleticism, balance and power, Davison has the potential to be an outstanding pro..." hasnt proved that he can hold up against top-end competition, but for a seventh round pick, he has great upside.

what do you think? nothing terribly flashy outside of the first round, but alot of high-value, low-risk picks (aside from Gurly who is extremely high value, but also high-risk)

I'm not trolling. If you can't take opinions then don't post at all.

Havenstein is a 4th at best, probably 5th.

Poutasi is better value.

i can take opinions. but if someone simply expresses disapproval without explanation, i consider that trolling. explain why you think Haverstein is a 4th or 5th, and why Poutasi is a better value.

im not angry with you at all. its just that simple disapproval doesnt lead to worthwhile discussion. i am actually asking for you to educate me about these prospects.

    • Honestly, I'm still down to trade him. Glad his stock is going up though
