Everybody Hates Jay (Episode Two)

Mr. Scot

Heh, not serious.  But Bart Simpson's heroic alter ego is the only Bartman I've ever heard of.  I'm assuming the ball was signed by some baseball player.

Actually, it wasn't signed by a player, it was from the 2003 NLCS when a fan named Steve Bartman reached into the field to catch a foul ball that a player would have caught and ended the inning, they were 1.1 innings away from going to their first world series in 50+ years, and hadn't won a world series since 1908.  Instead of closing out the inning, they ended up giving up 7 runs with 2 outs, lost the next game and still haven't made it back.  Cubs fans threw stuff at Steve Bartman as he left the stadium and he has never given a public interview because directly following the game he got death threats and was harassed.  It's ok if ya didn't know it, not everyone's a big baseball fan, especially in this part of the country.  I only realized when I moved here that there really is some die hard college basketball and Nascar fans, they really don't have those back in Louisiana.

Ok, I can understand the level of hatred then.  I can only imagine if something comparable happened to the Panthers.  I liked college basketball as a kid, cuz of my family, but since my early teens I've been pretty much strictly Panthers.  Can't STAND watching baseball.  I'd rather watch tennis or even possibly golf.
