Panthers met extensively with 6-4/336-pound DT Eddie Goldman

I would hope to draft him in the second round not first due to needs at WR.

here's what Gettleman said about WR:

“Wide receiver group, again, it's a function of the college game," Gettleman said Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine. "It's pretty darn deep, the wide receiver group. All shapes and sizes, whatever you’re looking for, you should be able to find, and you’re going to get value.

"We're taking the best player available, and if that best player happens to be a wide receiver, and that point and time, in whatever round it is, that is where we will go. We like our group, but you need competition at every position."

Rivera added:

"The wide receiver position is one that does have us interested," Rivera said. "Obviously curious about some of these young players. In the right situation and circumstance, I think Dave will feel strongly enough to pull the trigger."

I'm not against BPA and I would be fine if we only drafted a WR like Justin Hardy in the mid rounds but I just don't see us not drafting a WR in the first 3 rounds.

if Gettie drafts a dude like this then I will accept that he truly believes in BPA

If Gettleman believes in BPA, the Panthers will end up with 3 DTs and 2 TEs from their 9 selections.

Honestly BPA is just a load of crap. I favor the philosophy of Bill Walsh,  Tom Landry and Bill Belichick when it comes to the draft.

When we can fill positions with quality players from any draft round, I kind of stop caring about what round the player is drafted from. He looks like a beast and his highlights show he can get to the QB too. I think just as we want DEs who can play DT, we want DTs who can play either interior position. Plus with the heaviness of the rotation, him and Star and KK would be splitting time pretty equally especially in a post-Cole and Dwan world.

I could see us go (1) D-Line, (2) OT, (3) WR.

Wouldn't be sad to see him in a panthers uniform. Is he fast enough to play DE?

He's definitely fast for his size. From his Pro Day:

Peter Schrager @ PSchrags

It's being hyped as the Jameis Winston Pro Day , but so far

Eddie Goldman "s been the story. Big boy can fly.

Matt Miller @ nfldraftscout

Eddie Goldman ran a 5.12. At 336 pounds. Crazy
