Former Bucs GM: We Spied On Justin Blackmon's Favorite Bar For A Week

I get it, but I don't think that's the same concept as DGB.  He never got convicted of the crime against the female, and with the right people and organization surrounding him I think it will be a different story.  We got a family atmosphere in our locker room, while the Jags have...................and the Browns have arguably the worst locker room in the NFL.

We don't really know that. I think a lot of fans of all different teams think "oh we could bring him in and change him" but I just don't think that's necessarily the case. Blackmon at one point wasn't responding to any of his teammates' or coaches' texts or phone calls. The family atmosphere helps but it's up to the man to want to change himself. Maybe it'd be better here but it ultimately comes down to DGB himself. The female thing isn't even what concerns me. It's the pattern of being in trouble, especially with weed, which unfortunately the NFL comes down ridiculously hard on (I don't agree with it, but that's the way it is atleast for the foreseeable future). I just wouldn't want us to draft him and see him play ridiculously well for a few games and all of a sudden he's suspended indefinitely like Blackmon. Or suspended then comes back and is suspended for another year. I get his talent and potential, but unfortunately there are a lot of guys with that same talent and potential who just never realize it because they can't get out of their own way. Like I said if we did our research and came away feeling good about him then pull the trigger in the first. But if there's still some concerns I don't think it'd be worth it. Too bad he's likely off our board completely though. Could you imagine him and KB lining up across from each other with Cam for the next half a decade atleast?

That's my point, it's almost worth a shot.  It's not like Blackmon or Gordon.  He only got in trouble twice at Missouri and nothing in high school.  Maybe that year at OU taught him something.  I want the best for the kid though.  Cam, Olsen, KB, and DGB?  Yeah, I'm trading him to the Panthers on Madden next year.

Like some girls think "oh just because he cheated on his other girlfriends doesn't mean he'll cheat on me" or some wives think "yeah, he's hit me before, but he apologized and promised he'd never do it again".

Did you really just compare a football atmosphere to a relationship with a cheater and domestic violence?

It's something I like to call 'a metaphor'.

(and frankly, given today's NFL climate, it's a more appropriate comparison than ever)

I don't think a player going back on his word in a locker room remotely compares to domestic violence.  But to each his own.

We have a subset of posters that wants to go after every single "bad boy" player out there.  And they always use the "he wouldn't do it if he signed here" line.

This bunch was screaming for us to trade high picks for Jsh Gordon and Justin Blackmon using the same logic before they got their most recent suspensions.

Heck, some would probably still do it.

I didn't say anything of that nature with those two, but I see something special in DGB.  I think he will be level headed from here on out.

dont know if it's been posted but

they are doing the same thing with jameis. they had spies on all his flights. Saw how he treated employees. This is fuging crazy poo.

It's definitely not crazy when you're talking about making the type of huge investment that spending the #1 pick in the NFL draft represents.  It's bigger than just the money.  It's the value of that pick.  It's the fact that a #1 overall draft pick QB is going to immediately become the face of your franchise.  A franchise that's worth upwards of a billion dollars.  It's a HUGE investment and anyone with any sense would commit a lot of resources to make sure the right decision is made.
