zach thomas to retire

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Zach Thomas will retire from football.

Thomas signed a one-year contract in April to help new coordinator Clancy Pendergast install a 3-4 defense in Kansas City. But the 36-year-old inside linebacker couldn't shake an undisclosed injury in camp. A seven-time Pro Bowler and five-time All Pro, Thomas has a shot to get in the Hall of Fame eventually, although he probably won't be on the first or second ballot. He'll surely retire as a Dolphin, for whom Thomas played 12 of his 14 seasons.

named my son after him. my favorite all time dolphin. played the same position as him in HS and college.......he will probably sign with a contender with injury problems in the middle of the season.......with the dolphins he would be 2 weeks off of the probowl he was back at the dolphins facilities working out.

he was and is class act and awesome.

whenever he does retire......the nfl will be a lesser place without him.

he better sign with miami to retire a dolphin, and get his number 54 retired, and added to the ring of honor.
