Seriously though...I don't think this will factor into his draft stock much. Unless he ahs a history of it. Then that would be different. I think one time run ins with Johnny Law for misdemeanors is overlooked quickly if they have talent in the NFL.

And you would be wrong.

And you would be wrong.

Wrong that the NFL doesn't really take a one time DUI all that seriously (with the Ravens this year being an exception for how sensitive they are) or that it will affect his draft stock that much?

I could easily be wrong about his draft stock. I'd be surprised. I don't think the NFL (or the public for that matter) cares all that much about DUIs. If Peyton Manning were to get a DUI today, he would apologize, etc and say all the right things and not much would happen to him. Maybe a fine. Maybe asuspension but a small one. A 3rd string RB for the Ravens...cut.

While my personal opinion of DUI is much worse, I just don't see teams getting all that worked up about it. One guy killed a pedestrian and still played a few years ago. I think he may have been a Saints player. I don't remember.

But I could be wrong about his draft stock. We will find out if he falls into the 3rd.

I'd say it's not far off what went on with Alfonso Dennard, fringe 1st round player from a few years ago that went in the 7th....I expect similar results in this case, maybe worse since off-field stuff is in such a spotlight right now.

I don't think this is a serious as facing up to 5 years in prison and the other things leading up to his draft. From wikipedia:

Dennard was projected to be a second-round to fourth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.[3][4] He was at one point considered one of the top cornerbacks of the draft, but encountered a series of setbacks which caused his draft projection to fall. In his final game as a Cornhusker Dennard was ejected for fighting with South Carolina receiver Alshon Jeffery.[5] He then experienced a lackluster Senior Bowl performance later that month.[3] On April 21, 2012, a week before the draft, he allegedly punched a police officer outside a bar in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he faced charges of third-degree felony assault at a February 11, 2013 trial.[6] He was facing a penalty of up to five years in prison if convicted.[7] He eventually fell to the seventh round of the draft, being selected at No. 224 by the New England Patriots.

But like I said, I could be wrong. It would be an interesting turn of events if the NFL did start treating things like DUI more seriously.

I am so ready for a zero tolerance policy in all sports. Eventually the stupid will be gone. We have no room for second chances in america. You get one chance dont fug it up or your gone. this includes traffic violations and parking tickets by the way. I'm waiting patiently on the media outcry and false indignation.

For a DUI? That's a pretty serious offense.

Have you looked into statistics of people who drink and drive. Blowing a .08 i.e. Josh Gordon isn't serious. A .12 or high could be considered serious but if he was borderline I don't see it as an issue. Waiting until 3 am to avoid driving drunk and being pulled right at the limit is really no problem.

I said it's not a "serious offense". You said "minor misjudgement". I then explained how in the eyes of the law that it is a misdemeanor and that in the eyes of public opinion it is more serious but even still, not as serious as other crimes. But you want to hyperbolicly bring in the Hardy situation, tie it to what I was saying about how teams view this and then throw in some statistics about how horrible DUIs are and your opinion of how much you respect them.

I read that as poor reading comprehension and hyperbole.

Sigh. I don't have the time to take you to school on how wrong you are on so many levels. Have a good day. And don't drink and drive.
