On April Fools, just wanted to bring some cold hard stats. they make no comparisons about Cam's game to other QBs, because i chose not to research other QBs. i drew only one conclusion, and thought that the stats might produce some interesting conversation among we Huddlers. link is below. have fun! haha.

The decline in Passing yard is terrible, even tough his int number stays relatively the same since 2011!

Get this man some WR's and  a OT and we will be going to the Superbowl.

Honestly I think Cam's biggest area that needs to drastically improve is completion percentage. I'm not gonna look into drops because I don't care how the completion percentage improves. But yes hovered around 60% forever and I'd like to see him at around 65% if possible. That'd be huge for the offense if he could get to that benchmark.

Gotta have WR's that can separate, and enough time in pocket to deliver the passes.

Do the eye test, Just go look at the highlights from the 2011 and 2012 season!.

The biggest improvement he needs to make is consistency.  He can make some amazing throws and then he'll sail a few 10' over the receiver's head.  He has shown that he's able to make the throws, he just needs to do it more consistently.  What was so frustrating last season was that early on in the season I thought he was throwing the ball from the pocket better than ever.  It seemed like he reverted to old mistakes when the hits began to take their toll on him.

I really believe that he's ready to take the next step and establish himself as an elite NFL QB, but we're gonna have to protect him in order for that to happen.

His yards drop due to the Yac of his WR's and pass catcher dropping..

You can see little to no change in yards per attempt. .

Yep, Smitty was a YAC beast.  That declined over the next few years, and of course, we didn't have him at all last season.  1+1... simple

In 2012 and 2013 Lafell averaged significantly more YAC per catch than Smith, Ginn also was way ahead of Smith in 2013. Even Olsen who everyone accuses of not getting any YAC had a yard and a half more than Smith per catch in 2013. A quarterback can greatly aid a receiver in running after the catch with well placed and on time passes as well. It's not all on the receivers if they have to jump, spin, reach or wait for a pass.

IMO, the decline in his passing yardage has been a combination of personnel and scheme.  Chud's scheme was wide open and was designed around creating big plays.  With Shula, we've been more of a grind it out ball control offense.  Then you factor in the turnover we've had at WR during Cam's career and the fact that he and his WRs really haven't been able to develop much chemistry year over year not to mention the fact that we've yet to put an NFL caliber OL in front of him and that's where the declining stats come from.

But, I'll say this, I'd rather Cam put up more pedestrian stats and win than see him smashing records like his rookie year while we lost.
