Person tweets Jennings not with Panthers

The long game died in 1992. And the short game got even shorter in 2011. There have been 22 actual GMs who have taken their team to the Super Bowl since 1992. Do you know how many of those GMs took longer than 3 seasons to get their team to that level by using the long game? None. They all win with the short game. Some sustain their success with a system that keeps reloading their short game and builds off the previous window that closed for the team.

The Panthers are playing with old school coaches and an old school GM. If you do not evolve with the game, you get left behind.

That is the big picture in the modern day NFL.

Part of the reason that teams use the short game is because they don't have the players to run a long game and most receivers coming out of college run from the spread and other passing attacks which emphasize short passing. It is the reason the WCO offense was developed in the 80s.  It isnt better so much as most teams can't run anything else.  As for the myth that teams only pass and dont run anymore, it is always interesting to look at the facts.  New England is the perfect example of a team that is mentioned who throw the ball all the time.  However, they actually ran the ball 438 times in 2014 compared to us who ran the ball 473 times or 3 times more a game.

The whole notion that the long game prevents you from winning is a myth.  What prevents you from winning in the post season is typically defense not offense.  Teams that get into the playoffs can do so with a great offense or a great defense but teams that win in the playoffs have both sides producing at a high level.  Indianapolis under Manning and now Luck is the perfect example of a team that has a great offense and not a great defense and get knocked out every year because they couldnt stop the other team.

Scoring more points than the opponent always win games no matter how you do it. That hasnt changed in 100 years.

A responsible journalist would have provided a bit more information, instead of this, "I know and you don't" approach. He is just trying to get his name out there before The Baltimore Sun scoops him on Panther news again.

So did Person assume it wasn't Carolina because he fell for Jennings' lame April Fools Joke? Or is Carolina really out of the picture? Not reading through this poo slinging thread.

I'm guessing Person called the Panthers to ask if there was a deal in place.

There wasn't of course, just like there was no deal with anyone else. So technically, he was right.

As far as the situation, apparently it's unchanged from the day before.
