Why drafting a RB or defense won't solve our issues.

I believe it was John Lynch or one of those fox broadcasters who said it best last year, when we are forced into passing situations and the opposing defense knows we need to pass it our offense becomes completely incompetent.

Don't quote me one this but when a team gets a two TD lead on us I believe our record is like 1-20, so either we need to have the lead or we're screwed.

If it was up to me I would draft receiver, o-line, receiver with the first 3 picks, get Cam's so weapons to see if can become an elite passer. Cause as it stands right now the receiving corp is still among the worst in the NFL and we don't what we are getting Oher and Martin.

I could easily make a thread titled, "Why reaching on a player based on need won't solve our issues".

I would like to hear that argument, I would rather draft for need than a player that we have no need for.

People always bring up this being Stewart last year, but fail to realize theirs a draft next year. Next years RB class is just as good if not better.

We didn't have an immediate need for Kony Ealy when he was drafted, but that quickly changed.  We didn't have an immediate need for a LB when Beason and Kuechly were drafted, but both were (are) great players for us.

Every team needs good players.  You don't draft a guy who you think is marginal as a prospect for that particular draft position solely because of need.  That's how you get into trouble.  Remember Hurney double dipping in the 3rd at DT with Fua and McClain because he was desperate at DT?  Everyone considered those picks reaches and they were.

what you think is a need may not be a need by seasons start.

on the flipside what you think isn't a need maybe a need when the season starts.

injuries/regressions/off-years, ect. are unknowns. Its really a double edged sword. the flipside can happen. players get better/ recover from injuries in years past/ have a boom year. all these things you might not expect.

The best thing to do is get the best value as possible. need plays a role in that as well as looking at the future as a fluid process. it really is a crapshoot though. You just wanna infuse as much talent and competition and chemistry as possible.

A few years ago we drafted a player we didn't exactly have a "need' for at the time, a kid by the name of Luke.

Seems to have worked out okay so far.

So tell me how do you think we should solve that 1-20 record?

Look up the stats and I guarentee you most every team will have a losing record when being down by 2 TDs. The point is to not get down by 2 TDs. Seahawks won the Super Bowl and got to another on their run game and defense, not their pass game.

    • Yeah...im not watching next season if that happens.
    • you stayed through Bryce's all time disaster debut, the Frank disaster, the Rhule disaster, the Jimmy Clausen era, etc.  Maybe you are old enough to of lived through the Weinke era or us being so inept DeAngelo Williams basically played QB in a game.   I do not believe Jeanty would break you.  You were born in the darkness, molded by it.
