Panthers checking out more OL Depth

As I said in another thread...with all the FA signings and the mass of draft picks it is shaping up to be a very competitive training camp.

I just hope camp isn't Club Med like it has been the last 2 years.  Let 'em battle within reason.

Competition is being stepped up, and that's a great thing.  I don't have any problem with it whatsoever, and I welcome it. In theory, it's a long time coming. I say in theory to leave that error for judgment that Rum is talking about.

I am getting a little excited---though very low key---that this means that the receivers in this draft are looking like they are the better value, especially at the top of the draft.

I would be worrired about having too many lineman and not allowing a group to build chemistry.

I think offseason rosters are 90. In season it is 53.

It is normal and expected to have too many.

If we carry 4 tackles during the season you would think there would be 7-9 during the summer. I'm sure others might know exact numbers from last year

I think we will draft a project OL with one of those 5th rounders we have and add another body or two to give us a lot of choices and an across the board improvement over what we started last year with. Even if Oher is terrible, no way he's as bad as Bell, right guys? Right?

Good read on potential #Panthers signee Ben Ijalana . If he’s

healthy, watch out:

I was reading this write up on him, and he sounds like a stud:

Ben Ijalana, OT, Villanova

http://thedctimes.com/2011/02/dallas-cowboys-potential-draft-pick-in-2011-ben-ijalana-otog-villanova/

"On my current Big Board, I have Ijalana as a top-15 prospect. He’s my second-rated offensive lineman behind Tyron Smith.

.... . If Ijalana went to, say, USC, he’d be a top-15 pick.

As it stands now, I think Ijalana will still get selected in the first-round. He’s too talented and versatile to slip much further, so I don’t envision the Cowboys being able to grab him in round two. ... I would be thrilled if the Cowboys could move back even a few spots in the first round and select Ijalana. Even though I have Tryon Smith rated slightly higher, I’d prefer Ijalana and an extra mid-round selection over Smith alone."

Don't forget we signed Guard Tyrone Greene who had 28 starts with the Chargers and was with the Cowboys last season before he went to IR. Looks to me like Gettleman is looking anywhere to find a cheap quality player. Which to me is better than overpaying for a back up.
