Saints trading again?

Sean Payton said very clearly they won't be trading up for MM.

Maybe Payton was serious when he said that. But just because someone says they won't, doesn't mean they won't.

If they make it public knowledge they want Mariota and want to trade up for him, then everyone knows what they're going to do, and it is very likely that the price goes up. So by saying they won't, or dismissing it, it at least keeps people guessing, which outside of the Bucs in this year's draft is what teams tend to do.

That said, while they probably won't trade up for Mariota, it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

It would have been very simple to say we'll have to see how the draft goes, which is the pretty common company line. There's been no reports of the Saints being interested in MM, just speculation. Payton blatantly said, "We will not be trading up for Marcus Mariota." It's not very often you get such a straight forward answer from him.

I'm not saying they won't take him if he falls, which he very well could. But trading up for a QB of the future isn't where this team is at right now.

I don't imagine you're naïve enough to take whatever the coaches and GMs say about the draft right now at face value. This is the time of year for smokescreens and misinformation about what teams want. Our coach said at the owners meeting in Arizona that we'd like to draft another RB to team with Stewie. Add in that we worked out Gurley and our GM was raving about him and I'm convinced that we are NOT taking a RB early. It's a classic diversion to make the #26-32 teams think they know what we'll pick to keep them from jumping us and taking who we REALLY covet.

Magicians, pickpockets, politicians, and NFL coaches/GMs all do this switcheroo. "Hey look over here and while you're distracted, we'll take or do what we actually want."

    • Also confirmed that Andersen was injured and not 100%. Said he could've kinda played but really can't do that this time of the year.
    • Rod kinda confirmed that Staalsy is gonna retire. Called it a great ending to his story.    Glad for him to go out on top with the cup and conn if true.
    • Every union, union adjacent, or union tangent organization does this. They prey on dumb employees  who think the union is there for them instead of the mob or some other social-politically entangled arse. Always degrades the product and indeed the price of that product too. Then money flowing up to people with 0 to do with anything about the product. Its the most simple protection racket and oldest in the book yet people are still sub 70 enough to think it matters for anything other than making money for the racketeers.  I mean this is on their Wiki(yeah i know wiki) The NFL Players Association is the labor union representing National Football League players in matters concerning wages, hours and working conditions, and protects their rights as professional football players. So instead of the player doing that with his own agent which is why you have a fkn agent lol. So they are pilfering money from the player twice. Agent then NFLPA The standard annual membership dues are approximately $15,000. While players are not legally obligated to formally join the union, those who choose not to are generally still required to pay a mandatory service fee equivalent to union dues. Can't take anyone seriously when they talk up unions and since the mob is involved that's why you get those refs doing NFL ref poo. You can even hear former mob Michael Franzese just open admit this now that he's out of prison and making YT videos.(has been for years now)
