Uh...CJ Making an Astute Observation about the Current Trend in Voluntary Employment Cessation in Today's NFL?

C'mon man.....

I did not mean to convey an excitement, but to state facts.

When a guy retires from the league, there are cap implications that help a team.  We had been talking on here for awhile that next season might be the one where he might be cut, so I was just going off that conversation.

And, if this is anywhere near true, then our draft this year might be re-calibrated a bit to take this news into consideration.

My posts are smaller now because the Huddle is slower than crap and takes forever to load.  Sorry for the confusion. Not sure how much fun this will remain with it (Huddle) crawling like this.

Borland's family owns a successful financial firm.

Not all NFL players have that luxury to fall back on.

Even a decent player or back up should have several million dollars by the time they're 30. That is easily enough to love the rest of their lives very comfortably. He'll some don't even see the field and make millions.

Now that's a luxury.

This thread doesn't make sense... Well a few post make sense...  Maybe i needed to see the original title because im not understand the retirement talk.  Cats retiring after one year seems pretty clear to me.  Guys are retiring after one year...  Cj has obviously played more than one year so i dont understand the connection

that will help our cap I think, AND make our draft take on new meaning

I am not sure we weren't looking DE anyway--if I am not mistaken, CJ's contract can't really be dealt with until next year.  I am guessing O.O. from UCLA.

I can translate the entire thing for you. His family is very important to him and seeing them before he goes and plays a gladiator sport gets his mind in the right place, I'd imagine to the effect of "this game is hard but I'm doing this for my family". #neverknow refers to you never know if the game you're playing in will be your last. #catsretiringnowin1year clearly refers to Chris Borland. #Ialwayssayuready is probably either something he says to his children or his teammates before a game.

He's not retiring. I promise.

Agree with all of this. #Ialwayssayuready I think means you have to know and be prepared for every game is your last.

28 this season will be his 9th.

He's surprisingly been in the league longer than I thought. I forget he played behind Peppers for a couple years.

He didn't start full-time until 2010 so he's only been a starter five years.

Does he even know Borland though? And yeah it's weird a year in advance but it's also weird he randomly posts that if it is about Borland a few weeks after he retired. You'd think it'd be the same week of

Why does it matter if he knows Chris Borland? He's stating the fact that "cats", as in "people", are retiring in one year now days. Don't see how some people do not get the tweet. Must be older people I guess.

I agree with Borland connection, but disagree it has nothing to do with CJ. He's obviously thinking about it and his family, obviously won't retire next year. But I would not be surprised if he's dropped his desired age of retirement by a year or 2.
