Can't say I'm upset to see Howie go. I know on paper his numbers looked pretty good but this guy frustrated me almost as much as CJ Wilson does.

 

He'll hit into his fair share of double plays and I won't miss watching him chase that breaking ball in the dirt.

 

A FA next season I'm glad the Angels flipped him while they did.

Last nights final at bat was the perfect example as to why I was ok with seeing HK go. Anytime he was put in a pressure situation he'd chase just about anything down. That first pitch he swung at was about as bad as it gets

Now my hope is that the Dodgers fire Mattingly so Scioscia finally opts out of his contract to take over the Dodgers. I'm more done with the fat man than any of you with Mattingly

This is so stupid. Aside from the fact that playoffs are such a small sample size that it's hard to judge, win/loss record for a pitcher is a terrible barometer for performance, and CK's stats are skewed by two really bad starts against the Cardinals.

He was outstanding this postseason. Kershaw or Greinke aren't the reason the Dodgers lost. The fact that LA put a $200 million payroll together and couldn't sustain an offense is.

I wouldn't put any hope in Scioscia, he like other Dodgers have left on less than good terms with Lasorda and Co.

Scioscia is right where he wants to be I believe.

Now Mattingly needs to go, his strategy, pitcher handling and the fact his teams are often poorly prepared for basic Baseball plays is witness to the fact he needs to be shown the door.

Jon Heyman reports that Don Mattingly and the Dodgers “have parted ways.” Mattingly was under contract for 2016, but ESPN reports he was offered an extension some time last week. Depending on the nature of that offer and the conversations which surrounded it, it’s possible to couch this as anything from an agreed separation to a firing to anything in between.

But whatever you call it, the parting of ways is not terribly unexpected. While the Dodgers have had success during Mattingly’s tenure, winning the past three NL West titles and going 446-363 in his five years in charge, they have also undershot expectations, losing in the NLDS the past two seasons and the NLCS in 2013. This despite the game’s highest payroll and considerable expectations.

also from the ESPN article, apparently the Dodgers were only one game over .500 ball under Mattingly in games that neither Kershaw nor Greinke started. pretty remarkable how an average manager for an average team was carried so far by two aces.
