FOX's Peter Schrager: "I expect Carolina to take a WR in the 1st R"

Sounds like all Dorsett has going for him is the ability to run fast.

No. He is explosive off the line and in open space. He will also presumably add a little electricity as a return man. The question will be whether he can handle the more physical NFL corners who may knock him off his routes.

I don't want you coming away thinking that I said the dude is "trash" (a term used by today's youth that i actually hate), but after seeing Brandin Cooks get hurt and basically pale in comparison to some of his fellow rookies last season, as well as seeing how Tavon Austin has still failed to reach others' lofty expectations, I just don't see why people are so enamored with these little guys.  Perhaps it is still the memory of Smitty---who is built like a little tank and had the ability to jump out of the stadium---that is causing some Panthers fans to be warming up to Dorsett in round 2 (or even 1 in some cases).  Thankfully, Gettleman values big men.

If the top 4 WRs go in the first 12 picks, I'd prefer to look elsewhere at #25.

IMO, those top 4 WRs are about as close to sure things as you're going to find in the draft, but after that there's a pretty steep drop off but a lot of depth. I'm not convinced there's a big difference between the #5 WR and the #10 WR.

This! I'd be sick if we took Dorsett in the 2nd. Living down in Miami I have seen a Lot of UM games and know many canes fans/students. His route running is alright. The kid has stone hands. Only reason he is projected this high is because his 40 time. Literally the only thing he has going for him is his speed. (You see that jump in stock just like you saw with Heyward -bay, just he had the height. that's holding Dorsett down). Most people even thought of him going no higher than then 5th-6th round until it started to come up to combine time where it was rumored he could be run a 4.3. After that you saw him blow past a ton of people up the board the second his 40 time flashed up. Even jumping Greene who he played second fiddle to at STA and by the #'s, stats, and. Highlights in college Dorsett couldn't hold his jock strap

And honestly when you talk about over all explosiveness the kid from KSU has him beat there.

Dorsett doesn't nearly "have it all". He doesn't have as good of body control in the air as many of the others, his hands are inconsistent, he is not a particularly good blocker, he is small, and he is a limited route runner.

aaaaand this is why im not a talent evaluator. all i could see from his tape was him taking the top off of talented defenses and scoring touchdowns.

Lots of guys are worthy of a 1st or second round pick.  If they are who we want and they will be gone before we pick again, then we should pick them up as the BPA on our list. I want another big strong guy with speed to stretch the field who will also give match-up problems to the corners in our division.  Many have one great corner but not 2 great ones.  One more homerun at WR in the draft and we have our guys set for the next decade as long as we can afford them on their next contract.

I see what you do for the most part. Dorsett reminds me eerily of Brandin Cooks. Same body type and ability. He knows how to run routes in addition to being a "fast guy." He is very tough and isn't afraid to take a hit over the middle, but is so elusive that he rarely takes a devastating blow anyway. I like him a lot but he would have to be utilized the right way because of his size. I see that as a guy that can take a drag route for 25+ yards in open space and a deep threat one-on-one. Let him get the ball in his hands quickly and make a play.

DG isn't going to put himself into a position where he has to take a particular position in a specific round. Our draft choices are going to be dictated by what other teams do ahead of us. This is why mock drafts are so inaccurate.

Going into the draft we might want to go OT>DE>WR, but what if Parker drops to us in the 1st? Our draft could quickly change to WR>OT>RB. From looking at the visits list it is pretty clear that they are looking at certain positions throughout the draft.

Carolina has a visit set up with Dorsett! I've seen a couple of pieces on him on NFL network and this article and I've really like what i've seen.

SI: Any additional visits set up with teams yet?

Dorsett: I have Carolina on April 13. They're coming out here [to Miami] to work me out. And a couple other teams, but they didn't schedule times yet.
