Panthers Met With FSU CB Ronald Darby

FSU CB Ronald Darby visited the Panthers on March 10, according to Matt Miller.

Darbys produced an outstanding Combine, but some likely expected it due to his track background. There have been critics of Darby's tape, saying he freelances or loses his technique and deploys that athleticism to recover. We doubt Darby makes it out of the second round, and a first round selection is definitely possible.

He was also involved in the Winston mess at FSU. Don't see his name being called by the Panthers.

Uh? This makes no sense. Darby was a WITNESS to a alleged crime that charges were never brought fourth by the police department, district attorney office, and a COC hearing oversaw by former Florida state supreme court judge Major Harding. The panthers are obviously serious about him considering they brought him in for a visit.

From what I've seen he looks like he'd fit in well with what we do. I'm a little torn between this guy and PJ Williams. I think Darby has more talent but PJ has more upside in zone. Assuming we don't take Darby, I'd take a hard look at drafting PJ (especially if he makes it to the end of the 3rd) putting him on the outside and pushing Bene back to nickle.

A nice thing is that he can so into the slot or on the outside.  Bene is the same so it would be nice to have that for different receiving groups we have to face week-to-week.
