Let's get back on the fact you as spent a 2nd round pick on a part time player..

I wouldn't classify him as a scat. I believe he can be a 3 down back in the NFL. Are you saying scat because he's quick and short? Because I can rattle off a few NFL backs that are quick and short and aren't scats.

Besides the speed I don't see where you draw the comparisons. Devin has better hands and attacks the ball. I'm not trying to be argumentative I'm just genuinely interested.

Like Ginn, Smith ran one route in college. Neither were complete WR's.

That is the comparison

He didn't only run one route. But he had great success with post routes and go routes, so they had him do what he was great at. Doesn't mean he can't run other routes.

And honestly what routes do you think we want him to run if he comes here anyway? We will want him to take the top off of the defense, make the safeties hang back, and draw attention away from Olsen and Benjamin.

going to agree with you on this one.

ginn was more of a gadget player and pure speed guy. smith looks like a legit deep threat, but i still wouldn't snag him in the first.

Well then you truly don't know what you're talking about.. He doesn't have the size or body type to be anything but a scat back. . You're wasting a high pick and a career Darren Sproles..

Yeah I would. .

And if you think he can take the pounding of a every down NFL RB... Well prepare for him to have a short career..

There's a decent gradient between an every down and a scat back.  And he definitely took some licks in college.

The super speedy guys that have lanes always opened for them are one thing but Duke didn't have that necessarily.  Would he be a good fit with Stewart and Fozzy?  I actually don't think he'd be the most ideal.  I like Buck Allen and Taz Crockett a lot better for us in the later rounds for our RB group.
