Is this real? (Trading Newton)

After 4 seasons he should atleast be more consistent and a better deep ball, his touch on his deep balls are still very bad and his mechanics are suspect a lot of the times

Hard to throw deep balls when all your receivers are possesion receivers. He didn't have a deep ball problem when Ginn was around or during his rookie season.

Funny, when he had a deep threat(Smitty) his first couple of seasons, his deep ball was pretty damn good.  Also, if you were one of the most pressured/sacked QB's in the league for the past 2 seasons, your mechanics may be pretty suspect to, don't you think?

I'm not saying he's perfect, because he's not... nobody is.  It would be... just stupid, to trade him away because he's not Brady, etc.  We may not see another guy like Brady in the next half century.  The others, and I'm not trying to take too much away from them, almost always had legit weapons surrounding them.  Cam hasn't, aside from his rookie year.  It makes a huge difference in the team game they play.

i mean really, think about how many truly "elite" quarterbacks there are in the league.  meaning guys who don't have many weaknesses at all and the ones they do have are either compensated for or their aptitude in some other area is so far off the charts that it doesn't matter.  that's what, maybe 4 or 5?

let's look at it this way: yeah, it stands to reason that there probably is another aaron rodgers or drew brees out there.  there certainly isn't one in every draft.  but there are a hell of a lot more christian ponders, matt leinarts, and rex grossmans coming out and getting drafted too high every year than there are prospects who will turn into true cream of the crop elite quarterbacks.  just having a pretty good quarterback who is still young and shows flashes of greatness at times is something that should be hung on to for dear life because it's no guarantee we'll ever get close again.  there are some teams who have been trying  to land that elusive franchise quarterback for years and are still coming up empty handed.

Have you watched Tom Brady's deep passes the last few seasons?

His entire career. He's had one of the worst completion percentages of passes over 20 yards of anybody in the league AND he's had some pretty damn elite downfield WRs. Cam's deep ball has been better than Brady's ever has. And in response to the guy you're responding to, his mechanics issues are are a direct result of his poor offensive line play. There is not a single QB not named Aaron Rodgers that I'd take over Cam right now.

Didn't we go over this in the Luke Kuechly thread....it'd take a lot more than 2 1sts to get Cam in a trade.

If Cam gets his overthrows under control he could be a top 10 all time QB...

Yes if someone offered two entire drafts for Cam we'd THINK about it...otherwise STFU and GTFO.
