Want speed and a WR that can seperate? Meet Devin Smith aka Mr. Separation

So browsing different draft prospects on NFL.com, I came across Devin Smith, I liked what I read so I went and checked out some highlights. Holy mary and joseph this guy has wheels and can separate really well. Hence why I call him Mr Separation, I dont know if he is just playing against bad DBs but nearly every pass this dude just seems to be on an island by himself.

Not only that but he makes insane catches, oh and that first TD circus grab in the vid is WAY better than Odell Becham's catch imo. THIS is precisely the WR we need. Speed? Check. Can catch and fights for the hard ones? Check. Can get good separation? Check.

He would be a great 2nd round pick and quite frankly my feelings wouldnt be hurt if we nabbed him in the 1st.

Like this guy alot. Would want at number 1 over anyone not the top 3. The question then becomes, at his size, is his route running developed enough to make an impact at the pro level, if he doesn't, he is not worth a first round pick. You need this because you can't just run deep every play, our oline can't defend that long.

He would be a horrible 1st round pick. I wouldn't hate him in the 2nd, but there are easily 10-15 other guys that could be there that I want over him, including a handful of other receivers. Smith has speed, but he has no known nfl level separation skill. He ran basic ass routes in college and we have no idea if he can run the complex routes in the NFL. He also has troubles tracking the deep ball. At very very best I see him as a great slot receiver, and I would not draft a guy with that type of ceiling in the 2nd. The guy who we should draft, who has true separation skills, is Nelson Agholor. Would be an absolute perfect fit at WR2 across from Benji. He's gonna be the next Reggie Wayne. May not be there when we pick, but he is honestly the only WR that I think would be worth trading up for.

Stop what?! What am I doing wrong? What is wrong with my threads? Yes I post on average one thread a day, i contribute. I dont troll, or bash, or name call. I dont get the beef with my posting.

I didn't say "stop" anything... Ask the other guy.

I think that Smith is a very athletic and instinctive player.  He is a talent.  I just think we have to decide what we want in a receiver.  Are we looking for a receiver who is also tall and strong like Benjamin so we have twin bookends or do we want a guy who will complement Benjamin, like a 6 ft. speedster who can take the top off, or a superb route runner.  Do we want him to have returner skills or is that covered by Ginn for the next 2 years.

The guys we value throughout the draft wont necessarily be the guy that Kiper will be putting up as the next best player unless he fits what we are trying to accomplish with our picks. It seems that up and down the board we are picking up guys who are big whether that is in the secondary or in the trenches. It appears our philosophy may be that you can teach technique and develop a player's skills but you cant coach to be big. You either are or you aren't. It will be interesting to see how he builds this team. So far I am encouraged..

Smith does not run the whole route tree and isn't as physical as some of the other receivers. He is more of a one-trick pony that will have to be coached up a lot. I predict that he will go in the third.
