We sign Ball, Bucks sign Sterling Moore

Moore wasnt given a tender as a restricted free agent which most teams do in order to at least get some kind of pick for him unless you are afraid you will get stuck if no one is going to want him. . He is 5-10 which will give guys like Benjamin a huge advantage which makes him easy to exploit or limits where he can play.  His 40 is a decent 4.54 but not blazing. Compare that with Ball who is 6'2", just as fast and good in press coverage.

Here is a pretty good interactive site which you can use to look at any player and even compare them to other players;  Like Ball versus Moore.

I was just perusing the news for the day, and this caught my eye:

"Filling in for a disappointing Morris Claiborne, Moore finished the season as one of the 25 best cornerbacks in football, according to Pro Football Focus. Over 713 snaps, he broke up eight passes and allowed just 61 percent of the passes thrown his way to be caught."

They signed him to $1.525 million, a cheaper contract than we did Ball. I am curious as to which is going to turn out to be the better deal. Moore is a lot younger with some upside, but of course Ball has more experience.

I know that Ball has balled out in spurts before, and last year was probably Moore's first appreciable playing time, but it would be interesting to see how Ball has ranked cover the years vs. Moore's stint last year,

so you're questioning Getts evaluation ability and decision making?

Gotcha.

Ball is 6'2 and Moore is 5'10. I assume Moore was the Cowboys nickel back which we already have with Bene while Ball can be our number two corner because he can press and has size to go against the tall WRs of the NFC south. I wanted Moore but I trust Gettlemans decision and believe Ball has more potential to be a starting corner.

Maybe Moore wasn't a scheme fit.

I believe you're right. G-man was probably looking at size, and probably wants someone to push Benwikere back to the slot. Although Moore has the versatility to play both inside and outside as he did when he filled in for the Cowboys, there is still a question as to whether or not he'll get exposed the more he is on the field.

We will see. I, unlike some apparently, enjoy these little side stories. It just makes the game all that much more interesting to me on a human and strategic level.
