It is kind of amazing that some people don't realize that this has implications for all of the NFL. It's not just about Hardy.

I don't see the problem. In order to finally give him a suspension (if at all), they need to see the evidence they haven't yet seen. The evidence the original judge saw. The evidence that caused a verdict that Hardy got moved to a jury trial. Evidence that was never shown because the case was dropped. All the want to do is see the evidence. The County refused. So they got sued. Pretty simple.

There's also the law that allows trial preparation materials and law enforcement reports to be shielded from disclosure. Just because the NFL might want to have the information doesn't mean that they have a legal right to get it.

This could be an interesting case from a legal perspective.  Does the public (otherwise known as the NFL) have the right to access court records in a case where the defendant was acquitted? 

 

My guess is the NFL is suing so that they can say they did the best they could to get evidence on Hardy.  Whether they get the information they are requesting might be irrelevant.
