Hardy negotiating with Seattle/Tampa/Dallas

The annoying thing about a thread like this is we have so many people who always have a grass is greener mentality and think everything we do is a bad move that deserves harsh scrutiny on here. As if every team were in our exact situation and all Gettleman should do is follow what the others would do. It has been stated millions of times why Hardy is not going to be back with this team, we have a legitimate reason for moving on. Even before this he didn't seem to be in the team's long term plans. If our team really thought he was the future for us, we'd have found a way to make it work. If we were scared to ever play against Hardy we'd find a way to keep him. There's only so much you can do to keep a player and we can't afford another franchise tag year on Hardy.

Seattle is a great team but adding Hardy or Jimmy Graham doesn't make them invincible. Dallas has done a great job drafting lately and is making good moves. The Bucs have so many pieces without a QB, if they draft a winner this year then we'll have to consider them as challengers to the throne, be they're still a step behind us. Greg going to any of these teams doesn't mean we'll automatically lose to them next year.

Contrary to the belief of many, we are able to recover from this. We've already recovered from Greg leaving last season. We draft very well now and we have great coaches to bring our young players along quickly. Lets get this compensation pick and get another DE with it.

Don't be afraid of being a team who can reload without missing a beat, it's who we are being built to become.

Good perspective.

Every fanbase has its share of fans who are ready to panic and declare the season over anytime another team acquires a good player.

In reality, every team gets good players from the draft / free agency / whatever on an annual basis, as do we.

Being afraid of other teams having good players is pointless.

Can all involved please not turn this into a personal attacks thread?

Please and thank you.

We all know who is doing it, but I appreciate your being politically correct. You have been a great mod so far (and don't pie me for saying so because the compliment transcends pie).

So, how much would he have to sign for you to say:

"ok, I get it now, no way we could have kept him."?

Vs.

""WTF, I thought we let him go because of cost /rage"?

Without looking up the exact value of elite 4-3 DEs now (especially since there are so few these days) I'd guesstimate the value at around $16mil a year considering Suh and Watt are at about $20mil a year. Take away a couple mil for the ill perceived "risk" that accompanies his first "offense" last year (in which he didn't actually even offend the "victim") and another mil or two for the hometown discount I fully believe he was willing to give (not saying he would have played at vet minimum but he probably would have given us a slight discount if for no other reason than the cost and stress of moving) then I'd say the cutoff point would have been in the $11 to 12mil a year range where I would have thought we'd be overpaying.

#Bucs say they are in the exploration stage with DE Greg Hardy.

No visit is scheduled.

his article:

"The Bucs are having discussions about the possibility of bringing in Carolina defensive end Greg Hardy but no visit is scheduled. ... Yahoo sports reported that Hardy planned to visit the Bucs later this week but their interest has been described by a club official as more as exploratory in nature."
