This makes no sense.

Hardy's off field stuff is the reason Gettleman (and the rest of the league) "just isn't willing to break the bank".

You can't say Norman is this year's Hardy "minus the off field stuff" because then there is no comparison.

No there was talk before THIS off-field stuff that we were going to let him walk. Hardy has always been a head case off the field. Between a motorcycle wreck, taking pictures of his speedometer in his car while going over 100 mph, and other numerous bonehead things, Hardy was reckless. Norman's problems have always been on-field. You never hear a peep about him off the field, and until we do, he is in no danger of being ignored for his talent.

 

As for your Kevin Johnson theory, although plausible, I doubt it. He has decent ball skills, but is a shoddy tackler and lacks the physicality that Rivera and McDermott expect from their players. If he is around in the 2nd, he would be too high on the board to pass up, but in the 1st? I don't see it happening.
