Cornerbacks in the draft & where they stack up

I see what you're saying but I'm trying to take a talent analysis approach specific to the position rather than talk about the overall draft strategy. In my view, the difference makers are clearly there. Do any stand out to you?

Did you have Benwikere as a starter in the later rounds last year? The guys who usually stand are are the one being hyped by the various drafting services, those from big schools/ conferences, and the guys projected high in the draft.

If you look at our starting corners you have a guy picked in the fifth round from San Jose State and another fifth rounder from Coastal Carolina. The guy who we pick could be a big name guy but just as likely will be a later round guy from a smaller school with good measurables, speed and size who will be drafted later because he is relatively unknown. I think that picking popular big name guys may not be as accurate as saying the likelihood is another 4 or 5 round pick again. Hence the overall draft philosophy.

I'll be honest, I didn't (concerning Bene) but like I said it doesn't mean that's the case every year.  It's all relative but I get your point and yeah, we may find a guy late again and I'd be cool with it.  I just really like a lot of the big school talent this year, a lot of them seem like fits and we've met with more CBs than any other position so far this offseason.

Also, there's like 15+ prospects mentioned in here so far.  If you have any guys in mind, I'm definitely open to hearing it though or who you like of who's been mentioned.  I like discussing the talent.

Small school wise, Blake Bernard and Tye Smith (from Towson) would be 2 guys to keep an eye on.

I had a bud back when I was living in DC that went to Towson who was hyping up Tye for the longest time haha.

So some sleepers and late round guys. how about Eric Rowe from Utah Ladarius Gunter out of Miami. Perhaps Josh Shaw at USC if he interviews well and isn't a problem he appears to be. One of my favorites in the late rounds, Cam Thomas from Western Kentucky university.

We need Kevin Johnson. his stock will rise in the upcoming months but honestly him at 25 would make our defense elite the kid literally does everything. check his highlights he has an eight minute video of his sophmore year. Going up against Sammie Watkins and martavis Bryant who where destroying every acc team. And also to be a good corner in football you have to have great confidence and he has lots of it.

I really like Eric Rowe.  I think he could land anywhere between rd 3-5 and would be a very good addition.  He's played almost every position in the secondary.

I need to check out Gunter; I've seen his name come up a few times.

Don't think CB is too big of a concern although it would be nice to add another good one.

I'd be interested to hear what the rest of you think but I'd rather have Landon Collins at SS than Trae Waynes at CB. Would love either of them even though I doubt they will be available at 25.

Dallas Morning News did a good piece on Darby:

Summary:  I like this player a lot.  And then, when seeing what the consensus is on him – Day 2, mostly – I really like him for that value.  There aren’t many candidates to play corner on an island without safety help over the top (Marcus Peters), but Florida State was more than happy to allow Darby this freedom, and I thought he generally passed the test so well.  Judging corners is never an exact science because the good ones don’t see a ton of action when they are on.  There were games where it looked like he was being avoided.  The Notre Dame game was one where he got lots of action and there he showed several attributes that translate nicely to Sundays.  It all starts with his speed and if he can stay healthy he can rise up and be one of the very best corners in this draft when he develops.  He just turned 21 years old.  If you want a man corner who can really turn on the jets, I think you should really look hard at Darby.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (5'9 192 Oregon) - The shortest of the bunch but he did grade out as the best DB in college last season (read it recently, need to find the article)

Depending on his injury/recovery, I think he could be very good to cover the slot.
