Panthers Are Signing Safety Kurt Coleman Per Voth

Amazing highlight reel.  Consisted of three whole plays, two of which were INTs off of Brandon Weeden.  I like to call those "Charles Godfrey INTs".  Those INTs where the guy who got the INT really didn't do anything to influence the play, he just happened to be in the right place at the right time when a QB sailed a pass or a deflection to fall in his lap.

yeah, lol. At least there were a few tackles in it, too. It showed that he's fearless but super unimposing. Again just like Godfrey.

I'll trust Gettlemen on this.. Another one of his under the radar signing. .

And his talent evaluation skills let's me know this guy could be a player for us..

How did those evaluation skills work last year?

Last year was a complete reversal of the year before where Gettleman seemed to hit on all of his signings.  Hopefully this year will be a return to '13 in that department, not a repeat of last year.

He already admitted he did a lot of "economic signing" last year.. This guy seems like a Mike Mitchell type signing to me..

These are young hungry guys that we did t do last year like 2013 because we had no money and the market was slim

In what way?  Mike Mitchell was a former 2nd round pick with all the physical tools.  Like so many others before him, it just never came together for him in Oakland.

Before we get sidetracked, this guy can play both S spots and special teams.  I think SCP should give us all a nudie for that.

Panthers signed S Kurt Coleman, formerly of the Chiefs, to a two-year contract.

The Chiefs signed Coleman off the scrap heap prior to Week 1 last season, and it turned out to be one of their best pickups. Coleman accounted for half the team's interceptions despite playing just 377 snaps. Capable of playing both safety spots, Coleman gives Carolina depth with Thomas DeCoud gone and Roman Harper aging.

So we just signed another slow safety

4.55 at the 2010 combine.  Not slow for a S.  Was a SS at Ohio St.  I am guessing he plays SS here.  It all depends on read and react time anyway, so 40 times for DBs can be very deceiving.
