Panthers Are Signing Safety Kurt Coleman Per Voth

To be fair, he could start. Tre Boston isn't a guarantee to start.

i wouldn't be surprised if Coleman beats out Boston at FS. Coleman is a better athlete than Boston and Boston is a very young pup while Coleman is just entering his prime years. But regardless of who wins the Coleman/Boston battle at FS, the loser of that battle is going to be a great #3 safety to have on the field in passing situations, either as Roman Harper's placement on those plays or as a 2nd FS on the field on those plays, just like the role Coleman was an Ace at last year for that Chiefs #2-in-the-NFL pass D. Plus everyone agrees Coleman has been great on special teams his entire NFL career. This is an A+ signing that instantly improves both our awesome defense and our terrible special teams. Great job, Panthers! I imagine it was Rivera pounding the desk for us to get this guy and Gettles and staff did a great job of making it happen.

To me he's more of a FS than anything else. I see him competing/splitting snaps with Tre. ... He played well in shared snaps as [#2 FS on passing plays] in KC along with Abdullah and Parker. ... He is also a good ST guy! ... I really like this signing! ... Quality signing.

^quality post right here

Coleman should push Boston.

these young dbs need to be pushed, they shouldn't think that because they were the starters last year at the end that they should feel comfortable. comfortability breeds complacency.

also good to hear that Coleman sees we are building a perennial contender. i remember reading stuff that melvin and lester were complacent the offseason after 2013. weren't taking training seriously.

^another good post. All signs show that Coleman is driven and a great leader that will instantly improve our team in three facets at the same time: lockeroom/team culture, defense and special teams

sidenote:

TheRumGone might be the best regular poster on this site. I have never seen him post anything dumb. When somebody posts something very dumb that makes everyone more stupid, i look at the poster's name, Mr. Scot does this a lot, unintentionally i think, i think he just believes that intellectual dishonesty and dishonesty in general are cool as long as the lies/intellectual dishonesty make the Panthers look better in his mind

Amazing highlight reel. Consisted of three whole plays, two of which were INTs off of Brandon Weeden. I like to call those "Charles Godfrey INTs". Those INTs where the guy who got the INT really didn't do anything to influence the play, he just happened to be in the right place at the right time when a QB sailed a pass or a deflection to fall in his lap.

^this poster here rivals Mr. Scot as the regular poster who makes us the most stupid. At least Mr. Scot tries to have a sense of humor with a constant stream of poor jokes

guy posts his OMG "I'll trust Gettlemen on this....And [Gettles'] talent evaluation skills let's me know this guy could be a player for us.. [OMG Gettles, he so awesome at talent evaluation]

that's blind and dumb, but on the lower end of the normal scale of blind and dumb (guy who posted this at least brings some bright points, plenty in fact, although he gets made fun of a lot here), but let's go a huge step dumber:

How did those evaluation skills work last year?Last year was a complete reversal of the year before where Gettleman seemed to hit on all of his signings. Hopefully this year will be a return to '13 in that department, not a repeat of last year.

LinvilleGorge mad again about us signing Coleman, an A+ signing on all fronts

Chiefs are deep at safety, hard to crack starting lineup with Pro Bowler Eric Berry, Husain Abdullah, and Ron Parker(who Chiefs just re-signed 4year $20 million iirc)

KCkingdom.com:

"Losing Coleman is a blow to the Kansas City Chiefs secondary, which ranked no. 2 in the NFL against the pass in 2014. Coleman ranked no. 26 among safeties on Pro Football Focus , despite only getting 396 snaps. Kurt Coleman was a versatile piece for the KC Chiefs in 2014, playing in sub-packages and both safety spots. He has even lined up at corner on a few occasions. Despite limited play, Coleman was productive. He led the team with three interceptions in 2014 , which was half of the team total of six. ... While Coleman’s defection hurts the versatility of the KC Chiefs secondary, his loss is offset by re-signing Ron Parker and the addition of strong-safety Tyvon Branch from the Oakland Raiders."

@TerezPaylor This might be the best Chiefs safety tandem I can

remember with Branch and Parker.
