David Newton's latest mailbag provides some tidbits for thought, and reaffirmation that the draft is king for G-man in regards to WR.

Not buying.

Voth has long said that Gettleman never planned to keep Hardy past this season anyway, but the incident just made that decision even easier.

Between Voth and Newton, Voth is the far more reliable of the two.

Gettleman had no intention to keep Hardy because we couldn't afford him. We can afford him now so that decision could very well be coming from Jerry.

What I find especially funny about that is nobody seems to remember what Richardson said to Jeremy Shockey when we picked him up.

So while Richardson isn't a big fan of tattoos (or long hair for that matter) he doesn't demand it as a condition to be on the team.  And he certainly doesn't demand that anyone refrain from enjoying themselves.

 

This is why I laugh every time someone goes off screaming that we want a roster full of choirboys because of Richardson.

Everything other than what Bill Voth says is "pure speculation". It just can't be speculation based upon his intimate knowledge of the parties involved, it has to be "pure speculation".

That's kind of ironic coming from you. I don't present opinions as fact, and never have. Unlike some, I know the difference.

A lot of times, reporters will report something just to see of the team will refute it.  And that way, they clear up the questions.  You know, as long as they have a source......

Did I say that? No.  But let me explain it in a more literal sense.

 

The definition of a "choir boy" when used as a metaphor is relative, and individuals' definitions of "choir boy" largely depends on varying degrees of opinion.

Well to be fair, Shockey was a party boy and not accused of beating a woman. I think JR, or anyone else, could have a limit of non choirboy behavior. It's not unlikely that Kraken went too far even for the non choirboy loving JR (minus the tattoos of course because that's well nigh unforgivable).

David Newton is a Nascar reporter that has been given the over his head task of covering an NFL team. He's much more comfortable talking about who can turn left the fastest.

About the Greg Hardy thing, that's just more evidence this franchise will be much better off when we have a new owner. I am in the minority but Football should only be about two things and two things alone.. Winning and making money. Greg Hardy would contribute to both of these things. Now ofcourse I have boundaries.. If a player did something horrible like murder or child molestation then yes, ban him from the league for life.

The only people that truly care about off the field incidents are the media, time and time again fans continue to buy tickets and apparel despite a player's off field issues. Smitty knocking out a team mate, Ray Rice jersey sales surging after the incident (as twisted as it is)

We can all agree that the Ravens are a good organization to follow, Ray Lewis was indicted for accessory to murder! He still stayed with the Ravens and became GOAT, if Richardson was the owner of the Ravens, Ray Lewis would have been cut immediately.

JR is too soft and too conservative for this team to ever get to Packers/Ravens/Patriots level of consistency contenders.
