Realistic prediction: 5-11 this season

A lot of talent on this Panther team, but too many question marks/ injuries at key positions. For me, it comes down to the fact that we have a QB that does not have the skills to put a team on his back and win a game. With a defense that is still good but weaker than prior years, that translates into more losses. 8 or 9 wins still possible.

P.S. I don't know why it makes anyone a bad fan to say another team, like the Falcons, are more talented. If we suck this year I'll look to their transformation as a testament of what's possible when you upgrade HC, GM and QB.

Jake's play is not the issue with this team in 2009-2010. The offense will be fine barring injuries. It is the defense that will be the question mark.

If the defense plays like they have in pre-season, we are in for a long season. If they pick it up, this team has the talent to go 10-6 or 11-5.

I wonder what people's reactions and also how their outlook of the season would change if we come out on Thursday, have our poo together, and take the Steelers. I believe it would be very interesting because I'm sure a lot of people our already calling this game a loss, but it would be exciting for me to beat the reigning SB champs, pre-season or not.

you would have some people shouting, "it's only preseason" and others shouting, "we're going to the superbowl"

Is it like this every preseason?

Not every preseason. There's a huge difference when on your most important preseason game, the 3rd one, you blow out a Washington team 47-3! It's then that the fans, coaching staff, & media, all realize that your ready to go and look great!

Big difference between that and struggling against all three teams in this year's preseason.

I know it's a new defense, but either the team hasn't learned it and isn't ready to run it or Mike Trgovac wasn't as awful as we wanted to believe.

I know preseason means nothing, but confidence has to be earned and they aren't earning it.

I don't know anybody who doesn't get off on making excuses for this team, who honestly thinks we look anywhere close to being solid.

Goodson is one of the FEW bright-spots thus far. When Smith & Muhammad are on the field, things do click, but we still have a loooooong way to go.

Consider this... the 3rd preseason game is the most important. It's when teams play their starters for the longest period, so it's the best test to see just how good your team is.

By the 4th game, teams pull their starters (most do) and you're left with backups struggling to make last second spots on the roster.

If we start Jake and Smith and Mushin and Peppers and the rest of the gang and we beat a 3rd string Steelers team, what would I think of that?

WHATEVER.
