Realistic prediction: 5-11 this season

I think the Saints and the Falcons are going to battle for the NFS South this year and the Panthers and Bucs will be a non factor. I hate to say that but that's just the feeling I have right now. I watched the Saints and the Falcons games yesterday and they look like they are already in regular season form while we look like we need another 3-4 weeks of training camp to look better and even that's a stretch.

I am a passionate Panther fan and come to this board every day and don't post much but I feel strongly about my predition - enough to post it.

Yes we are missing some key players and hopefully that'll make a big difference but the reality is our Oline is just a couple of injuries short of disaster, our Dline is extremely untalented (except Pep and EB is coming on but they'll just double team Pep anyways) which means our Dbacks will have to work much harder this year and I think you'll be seeing more and more of what happened last night when you have a weak Dline.

On a positive note I think Dwill and Smitty will have big years again and will be good for fantasy stats and I love our three headed monster at running back and we should score some points. It's just that an inevitable injury or two on our Oline will keeps the points low and our defense won't be able to stop anyone good (Brees, Ryan, etc). :(

Yeah, last year I predicted 12-4 and I was right - albeit very lucky.

What is everyone else's prediction? I know there will be some that are drinking the koolaid way too much and will say 12-4 which is absurd considering how the Saints and Falcons are looking right now. I think if we are healthy all year long we may be able to go 8-8 or 9-7 but if the injury bug continues to hit us it's going to be a long year and 5-11 or 4-12 may be our record.

Another Huddler slurping the Falcons and Saints. I was defending the Panther fanbase the other day, but with nobody having any pride in this team and everyone jumping on the Falcon/Saint bandwagon, I may have to think twice about that.

With as many solid players as we have on offense, we WILL finish better than 5-11. That's a non-starter. Plenty of teams have had horrible defenses but have been able to score a lot of points to win plenty more than 5 games.

Is it like this every preseason?

No way!! I remember guys were practicly jerking off on their computer screens after watching Dwill and Stewart burn up the field in the preseason. I felt great about the team leading into the season. Pep was still under a normal contract (not effing 17mil for a season), Stewart was looking awesome and our D looked great. If you recall the first part of our season our D was top 5 - end then the bye came along. :banghead: Something happened b/c that's when our D went bye bye however our offense really took off (so did Dwill - coincidence?).

This year is different. I've been a fan long enough to know that when our team stinks it up - it REALLY stinks it up!! It's ugly and I'm starting to sense this is the direction we are going after these first few games.

    • I swear there are like 6 people on this godforsaken website that must be paid just to piss and moan all day in these stupid ass threads, for years on end, about fugging everything. Always something to whine about. If y'all aren't getting paid to professionally bitch about this team at every opportunity you need to reevaluate your lives because that ish is pathetic for grown ass men to be doing.  There are at least 50 other voices of reason in here. They're all smarter than you kneejerking perpetual contrarians. It's a fine contract. Our previous dipstick GM ran this team like some college kid that read a few Investopedia articles on technical trading and started throwing daddy's money at every positive indicator he saw - look what happened when Fitt drafted by RAS because he couldn't identify talent if it was footballs deep in his wife in the war room. It's a football team and this preoccupation with analytics, in this instance the positional value of RBs, is like 30% of the equation. It's not wholly inaccurate, but it requires a lot of context and, going back to the trading analogy, an understanding of the fundamentals. This is a sad, crappy organization that needs some winning attitudes in the locker room and on the field. $15 mil guaranteed over two years is nothing compared to the intangible value he brings, and the message the contract sends, not to mention his stellar work ethic and consistent improvement.
    • It boils down to either you believe in Chuba or you don't. For myself I 100% believe in him that he's a hard worker and a leader we want in the locker room. The issue is this investment paired with all the money we have tied up in the oline now (150 million in a single offseason) and Center is still a position of need going forward. Then there is the matter of the defense. Other than Derrick Brown and Jaycee Horn and maybe Wallace who has promise it's basically a wasteland. That cannot be understated. Dan Morgan is walking a tightrope here. Unequivocally he cannot play games with this QB room next season. Leave no stone unturned creating a real competition and actually have a real fallback plan.
    • To end all questions, I think we should start him rest of season as long as he does not hinder the young WR's and TE's development. In other words as long as he does not go back to super awful possibly worst QB ever plays scared and afraid Bruce that we saw most of his career so far then let him keep playing this season and make a decision on what to do with him in the off season. If he grows great , if he stays the exact same as he is now with no more development then ship him out. If he goes back to classic Bryce then sit him again and at seasons end ship him out. If by some snow balls chance in hell he actually develops and looks good by seasons end then hang onto him. Simple as that really. He controls his own destiny on what happens to his career here is my opinion.
