These people are seriously delusional. If they don't think DeAngelo's done anything in four years I don't know what team they've been watching.

Lol

Please inform me. Prove me wrong. I'd welcome it.nothing since he and stew went for 1100 yards

about fit....how is Williams the 2nd best option when he doesn't really fit well at anything there.

Also the Steelers drafted Archer for a reason. I would expect more to come from him (was just a rookie) AND other RBs. Williams doesn't fit the power runner or change of pace role....so how will he be the default second best option? There are Fozzy type RBs all over this league and Williams ain't a better option than that

Yeah CRA you obviously know so much more about the Steelers than their GM. Their 2x Super Bowl winning GM is just too stupid to see how DeAngelo is an awful terrible no good person who sucks and can't run and fumbles all the time and is injured all the time and that isn't better than their rookies who both had amazingly awesome seasons next year. What was he thinking?

If you look at what he has done based on what his paycheck/cap says he should of done.....he hasn't done much....

And in the NFL not much else matters

I know they need a body the first 2 weeks and having a vet with their youth DOES make some sense.....

Expecting an old and unspectaclar RB to be something different than what he now is.....is a waste of energy.

and I repeat, he isn't better than Fozzy and the NFL is FULL of those type RBs of you want to strictly talk on field talent. I said previously that isn't what is signing was about IMO

I agree GMs know EVERYTHING and can't be questioned. I said signing to RBs to featured RB deals was a horribly dumb thing and would hurt us. GM still did it. So I guess Hurney was right.

2011 - Excellent season. 836 yards and 7 TDs for a YPC average of 5.4, while splitting carries three ways. About as good as you can ask for in that situation.

2012 - Bad season. However, that last game against New Orleans is the best game a Panthers back has ever had.

2013 - Good season. Nearly 1,200 total yards in 15 games, and a respectable 4.3 YPC average - especially when you consider he only had 6 20+ yard runs. I did a whole post on how he was actually pretty good during the 10 games he played without having to split with Stewart. See it

2014 - Bad season. First game was alright, and it was downhill from there. Roughly as bad as Jonathan Stewart's 2013 season.

In short - one excellent season, two good seasons, two bad seasons. Not ideal, but he's certainly not 'done nothing'

4 million over two years is a bit much for a camp body. They are not going to have Dri Archer or Josh Harris starting the first two weeks. He is going to start the first two games. He might actually play well because they have a good line. After that, he'll be a backup the rest of the season.

I know that doesn't compute with your whole 'DeAngelo sucks he's terrible nobody likes him he's garbage shouldn't have a job he kills puppies and eats unicorns and fumbles' thing. But you aren't a GM.

Williams has definitely been overpaid, but that is not his fault, its the fault of the front office.  Lets face it, we haven't used him very much.  He has been splitting carries with Stewart, Tolbert, and Newton.  But until this last season, he ypc has been pretty solid.  He did struggle this year, but injuries and poor offensive line play were a big part of that.  Its certainly not his fault that we were supposedly a running team that didn't use its running backs effectively.   Its been a cause of frustration to me over the last few years that we paid a ton of money to Stewart and Williams, but we used both of them sparingly either by design or due to injury.

I think DW could still have some gas in the tank, perhaps enough for Pitt to get some decent use out of him.   I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Williams get 400-500 yards at about 4.5 a carry for Pitt next year if he stays healthy.

Stats never tell a full story....it became obvious staring in 2011 he wasn't fitting well in our new team's direction. They found ways to make some plays for him and some big runs helped mask that on the stat sheet. He wasn't even the preferred RB....so that in itself isn't excellent.

And again based on his paycheck vs performance....he didn't do much over that time.

I hope this is last d will thread, the hate from some is oozing through my keyboard

Meh, there really has never been that much 34 hate....

One person could claim he is old....

Then person 2 claims "Oh my gawd you didn't say something totally awesome and praising 34....why do you think he is a POS, why do you believe he punches kittens, you are crazy"

Then people think someone claims he punches kittens....yet no one did.

Williams was setup by Hunrey to be in a postion to fail. There was no way for him to not be criticized. Yet people couldn't handle it

Panthro, you're still mad over Armanti? Dang man, you need a life.

I'm not mad by any means. Wait...you and TN05 are kindred spirits. lol No wonder you guys are on the same side. You both have unrealistic expectations for local folk heroes.
