The cap confuses me. We are out of money but the Saints were way over and are still signing guys.

I know it will hurt them in the long run, but it still confuses me.

 

They are having a fire sale, they have been trading guys left and right to get under the cap and signing vets to replace them. It isn't the same.

I have been saying we have 11 million and nobody has corrected me on that they were talking about not getting into a bad deal with these FAs. At 4 million however we do not have the money. A good portion of the fan base and people on here even thought we had 11 million in cap room. As I did say we only have 4 million.

This is wrong.

 

Signing the rookies will only take up an additional ~$2.5M in cap space. Which would put us in the neighborhood of $8M in cap space if you want to already allocate that money. We will gain an additional $2M in cap space on June 1st due to DeAngelo's release being processed. Given that Gettleman has said he likes to have around $5M in cap space for emergency funds in case he needs to sign someone that gives us $5M in spending money once you factor all of that in.

 

TL;DR - We have $5M in available cap space to spend.

When there are that many people telling you something that you don't think is right and you find yourself in a minority of opinion, swallow your pride and ask to have it explained. You're not going to be considered stoopid. We'll understand because every one of us wasn't born with that knowledge and the cap is complicated. You aren't the first person we've helped and you won't be the last.

 

But coming in here as a newb and acting like you know better than the majority just makes you look like an @$$ even if you have facts on your side. Talking down to people or in a confrontational way isn't going to make us agree with you, facts be damned. I'll argue the Earth is flat if you act like an @$$.

 

Mistakes or misunderstanding make you human and we can relate to humans much easier than know-it-alls who are never wrong and always a pain in the @$$. Being human means we can have fun with you and you with us.

 

For now, I'm still keeping you on my Ignore list until I decide whether or not I like you.

The funny part is that David Newton has no clue about our salary cap. D wills cap relief doesn't even hit till June 1st.
