Saints trading WR Kenny Stills to Miami

I'm not so sure they do...

Keenan Lewis is a very solid #1 corner, it was their lack of a second corner that hurt them. Now they have Browner as a #2, who can shut down anyone not named KB (Lewis will be on him anyway) on our team. Don't forget they'll also have Jarius Byrd coming back as well.

They have a solid center now and 2 first round picks. They still have Colston and Cooks and 2 more picks in the 3rd round to address their need for more WR's (a #3).

I'm guessing Payton will be able to utilize Spiller's strengths and get him the ball in space. They could use that second first rounder and grab Maxx Williams, he's obviously not Jimmy but he fills a need at TE.

I do question the Ingram signing though, I thought Robinson did a nice job last year. I'm not ready to write the Saints off just yet.

Their D might be OK.  But they just blew up a Top 3 offense.  Our WR/TE are better and we have one of the worst in the NFL.

Saints can't run the rock. Just cover the screen game and short dump off.  Brees can't throw it vertical anymore either.

They lost a big element.

i thought the Saints' other moves were smart, but I don't yet see why they thought this move was a good idea. Basically they gave up Kenny Stills for a 3rd Round pick and that is a very good deal for Miami.

Yes, the Saints also got LB Dannell Ellerbe, but that is basically like getting Curtis Lofton back (their under-performing and aging ILB they cut recently). Ellerbe is half a year older than Lofton. He would take Lofton's place for the Saints as iLB in their 3-4. Ellerbe excelled in that role for the Ravens in the Ravens 3-4 (ranked top 13 iLB his last year there, 2012). He was the #1 iLB in FA that yr and MIA signed him to a monster contract. In 2013, he played out-of-position as MLB in MIA's 4-3 (his natural fit would be OLB in a 4-3) and was rated poorly despite amassing 101 tackles. He missed 2014 with injury.
