The reason Cam isn't in a hurry to sign a contract

you're down on Norwell, Remmers and Stewart?

Kid, did you even watch last year's games?

And no, by half the draft I mean half our picks. For example, our first and third picks this past draft were used on a wide receiver and a guard. Both of those are on offense, just to be clear.

As to the last paragraph, yeah...you don't know much about how this works in the real world, do you?

Why do you keep trying to twist my words?

Coming into 2014 how the HELL was Rivera suppose to know that two UFA were going to produce at decent level?

And Stewart was hurt, is that Rivera fault also?

Funny thing is your acting if we're giving Cam a bone. We HAD to draft a receiver with the first pick, there was no other choice. I can't even begin to imagine our offense without Kelvin.

BTW that was the first time since Cam has been here that we went WR in the first 2 rounds

Let me guess if Cam does leave its not Gettleman's fault

Srs question are you related to Gettleman?

See, it doesn't help your cause when I have to explain basic football concepts in each response.

See, the whole purpose of training camp and preseason is player evaluation.  Roster and depth chart decisions are made based on camp performance.  the guy who owns this forum went to quite a bit of it last year, and even without being a professional he saw how well guys like Norwell, Philly Brown and others were doing.

And let's be clear, nobody held a gun to the GMs head and told him to draft Benjamin.  It was a choice, as are all draft picks.  Two rounds later, we went with a guard and later on, a runningback.  Again, all by choice.

And if Newton leaves, it will be because the two sides couldn't come to agreement.  But that's not really a possibility for at least three years, thanks to the franchise tag.  And yes, that can be applied even if the player doesn't like it.  happens all the time with every team in the league.

And no, that's not a serious question.  It's the kind of question a teenager asks when he's losing an argument.

When was the last time we had back to back winning seasons?

(Yup never.)

Peppers

Marshall

Wharton

Hangartner

Gamble

Shockey

Smith

Mitchell

Gross

Hardy

These are the names we let walk and still have not been able to replace became we go cheap in FA. What's the point in drafting well if you don't reload or replace the players you lose? We have still yet to have signed Can and Luke and its possible one or the other could walk as well knowing this franchises history.

Wharton, Gamble, and Gross retired you nimrod....we did not let them walk away.

Don't trust the sources close to Cam?

What sources?

I live in Atlanta, his hometown, and I've heard nothing from Atlanta "sources".

I graduated from Auburn, his alma mater, and I've heard nothing from Auburn "sources".

Who are your close, dependable sources indicating to you that Cam wants out?

So you were there the whole off season, seeing how every single player performed? since you apparently knew who to start from day 1, you should be a NFL coach. And judging how someone does during training camp or even the preseason isn't a smart idea. All I heard this off season was about how Berson was some legit weapon, come the real games he sucks.

To add to that point even with Remmers, Philly and Norwell starting our offense still was mediocre AT BEST

That "choice" was more of a dire need that every single draft analyst and their mother saw coming from a mile away, and like I keep saying that was the FIRST time they draft a WR in the first 2 rounds since Cam has been drafted. And please don't bring up the running backs we drafted your making a fool out of yourself and Gettleman.

Like the main point of the thread is, Cam not signing here has basically nothing do with money IMO, it has to do with the fact we keep low balling him, do to the fact every other young QB are getting weapons, due to the fact other teams are willing to risk a little bit of there future to help there QB's NOW. While the panthers are content with drafting receivers and hope they turn out to be studs and signing these cheap free agent hoping they contribute.

And you wanting to tag a QB who doesn't want to be here is beyond idiotic, a QB is suppose to be the leader/captain of the team. He can't lead a team if he doesn't want to be here to start with.

I shot down every single argument you made, Boy

Just because you 'shot down' his argument with ridiculous arguments of your own that you have no evidence for doesn't make your opinion the right one. You know the best thing you can put around a young developing receiver? A great defence. Go and watch how many times our defence has bailed out Cam after an interception or poor overthrow. They then force a 3 and out or turnover and put the ball right back into Cam's hands. If Cam doesn't understand and appreciate this (and we have plenty of post game comments to suggest he does) then we should just give him 5 first round receivers and see how many games he can win us.

So many people here are butt hurt that Cam isn't putting up as many stats as Luck or isn't as big a deal for the team as Luck is, when in fact they're losing the bigger picture about winning football games. I couldn't give a fug if we gave Cam a one legged receiver from the CFL as long as we carry on winning football games.

A great defense can only take you so far just ask the jets, year after year it was always about defense, how many SB did they win? They already ruined two young QB's. That's what you want? Another 7-81 season, another year were our offense looks inept?

So many people not just panthers fans are sitting back and saying WTF are they doing with Cam? What kind franchise expects a QB to produce with UDFA and veterans no other team wants?

If Cam is our franchise QB, why don't we start building around him?

I'm talking to about the sources Jonathan Jones referred to in his article. I never said "sources say he wants out" I said sources say the goal is for him to win here. And when I say win I don't mean 7-9
