Raiders in discussions with Greg Hardy

I'm trying to remember the last time there was a player the Raiders wouldn't touch.

I had a feeling he might have a rough time in the post Ray Rice atmosphere, but it's starting to sound like it might be even harder than I thought.

Maybe things will change after the word comes down on his suspension from the Commissioner.

I thought they were going to have that figured out before the start of FA?

Great for them. His is a world class player and will do them well. Stoopid of the Panthers to let him get away.

They said no thanks.

It seems teams are gathering info on him and deciding not to persue him.

Please goto OAK.  I do not want him in our division and well if he wants to get paid then yes he goes to OAK.  After one huge payday, 13.1 million plus playoff bonuses, and you can not survive and your motivation is still only money and not championships I'm not sure how long that motor will go.  I love Hardy and so wish he would have came back to us but it is what it is now.  I wish him luck and always up for giving people second chances.  KEEP POUNDING!!!!!

Nice to see the posts of so many "football fans" who obviously have paid no attention to the change in the Raiders organization since Al Davis passed.

You guys are still stuck in the what the Raiders were years ago.

Al Davis has been gone almost 4 years and they are on their 3rd head coach....not much has really changed.

He seems to be running out of options honestly.  The Raiders made it clear they aren't purusing Hardy, straight from owner Mark Davis's mouth.  http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/70685/greg-hardy-to-raiders-doesnt-look-like-it

The Jaguars state they aren't interested http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/164245/jaguars-unlikely-to-pursue-greg-hardy

The 49ers, Falcons, and a few other teams have stated they aren't interested.  Hardy might have trouble finding a home.  He will definitely be on a roster - he's too talented not to be, but it might be a one year "prove it" deal, ala Dave Gettleman, albeit not in Carolina.

I thought the Bengals were a solid landing spot for him given their track record of signing talented players with off-field issues and turning their careers around, but they brought back Michael Johnson so that seems unlikely now.  I think Tampa Bay is still a strong consideration.  Or we might see a huge surprise and see someone like the Bears sign him.  He did play for John Fox for a year...

    • Our defense hasn't been elite. That doesn't mean that an individual player hasn't been. All an elite CB can do for your defense is greatly limit the other team's best receiver or greatly limit the passing success to his side of the field if he's a zone guy. There's still a lot of opportunity for the opposing team elsewhere.  I'm not saying he's a Luke or a Peppers. He's not. But I think he's a top 10 CB when healthy. I consider a top 10 CB to be elite. If you have a different definition, that's fine. I'm not gonna really argue where we draw that line or even if you think Horn is saying top 15 instead of top 10. Again, fine. Not really gonna argue that either. All I'm really trying to argue is that Horn is pretty damn good when he's on the field.
    • I'm not saying there's not a place for him here. I'm saying we massively overpaid for his skill set in today's NFL. Both statements can absolutely be true.
    • Has he truly been elite? I don’t recall our defense ever looking good over Horn’s career. I mean, is there even a noticeable scoring difference when he’s healthy? We have always, always overrated our guys and it’s pretty damn rare we actually have a player like Luke that it’s true. I loved Cam and he was a monster at times but we (most of us) revere him for his special plays more than results. Outside of the special 2015, he won 1 playoff game against a 3rd string QB. Don’t get me wrong, Cam was unbelievable at times but he’s a great example of us overrating players. Just for shits and giggles, I checked points against. We gave up 25 ppg from 2021 to 2024. In Jaycee’s 37 games, we’ve give up 26 ppg. I’d say Brown is far more valuable as our points against went from mediocre to record breakingly bad.
