Salary Cap Hit by Tagging Hardy

The Black and Blue Review tweeted an interesting stat about the guaranteed money committed to the 11 signings done this month and the guaranteed money given to Hardy by franchise tagging him.

It could have paid off. Of course in hind sight it was a bad move but lord knows what we could have done on defense with Hardy and what we could have accomplished without the enormous headache and destraction. Once the team realized he was gone we played like we were capable of.

I read that the Raiders are having trouble attracting top free agents, even though they have lots of cap money to spend. However,i'm not implying that Hardy wouln't go there if offered a decent contract.

They sure are. Seems they're to player's contracts like L.A. is to owners wanting new stadiums. Leverage.

 

Heard that Hardy's market is only 2-4 teams. Radioactive to everyone else. Raiders one of the few teams that don't mind problem children. Or at least they didn't under Al Davis. Don't know if his son will keep that going.

If that's true then we only have 12 million in cap room and I don't know if that is including signing Teddy Williams. We will need about 3 million to sign our rookies which means we will sign one or two mid level guys and some practice squad/ vet min players.
