It certainly can but you have to question Patterson work ethic. He had those concerns coming out of college and it was a big red flag to most teams. The vikes thought they could fix him like every team that drafts a raw player with work ethic concerns. KB worked out but so many times they don't. Take Harvin for example. He's been in the league since 2009 and has not progressed one iota.

 

 

 

Not saying the Panthers should pass but the Vikes coaching staff has pretty much given up on Patterson after 2 years. Perhaps he needs a change of scenery or perhaps he is fine with being mediocre.

I wouldn't waste a pick on him. He's primarily a kick returner (which we already have) and hasn't shown much as a receiver. His career YPC is only 10.9. We're better off with Ginn and Brown.

Agree on the poor route running and not knowing the playbook. He's got to know the pre-snap reads as well as the QB so he runs the route the QB expects him to. If he doesn't best result is an incompletion and worst result is a pick-6.

 

That said, the 4 QBs and 2 OCs has merit. Gettleman is probably interested at the right price.
