Why Gettleman is a GM... and you aren't.

Never heard any apologies from Brady or Manning/Luck for being in those sh!tty divisions

Big reason they were able to build their resume playing those teams twice a year

When have any of them posted a losing season and gotten into the playoffs? Hell one year the Pats had 10 wins and didn't make it. You're talking about a team that consistently has winning seasons. Compare that to 1 winning season out of 4 for the Rivera era. If you think we were anything but lucky last season, you all are kidding yourselves.

Y'all whining and crying about "OH WEE MAYNE GETTLEMAN GOT HIM A PLAN" need to be reminded that the Panthers were one of the luckiest teams in NFL history last year by winning arguably one of the absolute worst divisions in the history of the NFL & getting a home playoff game against a team on it's 6th string QB. And don't forget that the only reason we got into the playoffs was because of a fluky tie because an automatic kicker missed a gimmie. #JustSayin

What was that about "paying attention" again?

There's still some time left but aside from cutting Bell lose and getting a returner, panthers have not improved in any way.

Would Brendon Bersin be on an active NFL roster of any other team in the NFL?

Probably yeah. He can block, run routes and he's made tough catches, not to mention he can help onspecial teams. Not to mention he's improved a lot both years he's shown up to training camp. There's no reason to think he can't get better.

He's easily better than some other players with had here that the Huddle loved. Namely Seryi Aroujitutu and Legatron. People loved those signings and they're complete trash.

You do know that teams are made out of more than just superstars right? You need role players.

But here's my question for you: Why would you not sign a player to at least be a camp body if he's shown promise each of his two years there, knows the system, and produced okay when called upon?

Having Hall of Fame QBs helps them make it look easy, especially when their divisions roll over and die every year. Now it's our turn to take advantage of Loomis, Dimitroff, and Licht since they are blowing up their rosters and bringing in new coaches to try and catch us.

I've said this bdeore in another thread but uh

- Your franchise QB was playing hurt most of the season.

- Your oline din't have any real set pieces and gelled until the last 5 weeks. Same for your DBs.

- One of your starting pass rushers was playing hurt most of the season, the other was suspended for all but one game

- Your starting HB was hurt and didn't get healthy until late, and even before that he was running behind aforementioned terrible O-line.

We have weaknesses, yes, and we're going to adress them. You seem to think that Gettleman is ignoring them for funsies because he's not breaking the bank on these top flight WRs and is waiting for the market to cool down a bit...you know...like Most GMs Do.

You say he's trash but...what has he done that's made he trash? He was a solid 4th-5th string WR. If it's not Bersin, we're going to sign some other No Name WR to be jsut that. A Solid 4th-5th string WR. Why not just bring back one of your own guys to do that?

You also neglected to answer my question which shows you just want to bitch and moan for the sake of bitching and moaning.

You want instant results and when they don't happen you're goign to cry about how our GM is sabotaging the team.

This isn't Gman's first rodeo. It's the benefit of having a GM who has been thru the team building process with a number of successful organizations over many years. He's seen it all before (expt these trades) and knows we are only three days into FA. By the W/E prices will come down sharply and as teams sign more players they will also cut more players, so you never know who may be available next week. From what i've seen the first couple of years, I wouldn't want to play poker with him, because it's hard to tell what he's holding.

Actually it is his first rodeo as a GM. Sure he was in the player evaluation business as part of the Giants but never a GM so there is a learning curve just like Rivera's time as a coordinator helped but didn't totally prepare him for head coach. The beauty of it is that his basic philosophy and instincts are already good and will only improve as he Gaines experience.
