Gettleman: Oher can be answer at left tackle

When has Gettleman ever smokescreened

If the guy thinks Oher is our starting LT than you can settle on Byron er um michael Oher as our starting LT. Out only hope now is that a guy falls onto our lap who isn't supposed to come draft day.

name players we should sign

otherwise. put down the keyboard you're acting like a 13 year old girl.

Actions speak louder than words.

If come draft day, Gettleman completely neglects improving the offensive line, then we will have something to talk about.  Otherwise, I'm not sure what to take out of this.  It isn't like Gettleman is going to say, "we're still not sure if Oher can solidify this group."

How old are you sweetheart?

You need to re-read the exact words that are used by DG.

He says things like, "can" be "an" answer for us....not "he is the LT, he will start all season, we hate Cam, I love Sandra Bullock", etc...

You seriously are the biggest buzzkill on this board during this offseason.

We get it, you aren't happy with the OTs we have on the team.

So who would you have signed instead?

Belaga was the only good OT available and he wasn't, at any point leaving, unless someone overpaid an insane amount.

Would you rather have Jeremy Parnell for 5 years, $32M?

After Gettleman's confidence in Bell and Chandler last year, I have to take this comment with a grain of salt.  This signing had to have Matsko's approval and honestly, was great value on the FA market.

That being said, I don't trust Oher on the left side and hope that he can string together 1 or 2 more above average seasons to bridge the gap until our new LT is ready.  Oher has the size, feet and athleticism but just gets overmatched routinely.

I trusted Gettleman last year, but this year, I need some results.

I'd rather he stick with scouting and balancing the checkbook than naming Michael Oher our starting LT with confidence.

So...."sometimes the answer is on your roster" when asked about the direction he will take in the draft and FA = Complete confidence in Bell and Chandler?

He knew what we had, but couldn't do anything about it.

ill be surprised if he answers with actual names

he's a priviledged tween who maxed out her credit cards and is crying to daddy for more money.

if you're gonna poo post a ton of threads this offseason you might as well lay out your plan with players and money figures so there can actually be a debate.

there is nothing to debate with you because it is all based on pure emotions.

PFF:

2015 Free Agency Deal Grader

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/03/10/2015-free-agency-deal-grader/

-0.5: Did You Really Need To Make That Move?

Michael Oher, OT, Carolina

Panthers: 2 -year, $7.5m with $2.5m guaranteed

Impact: At this stage you have to accept Oher as a disappointment, that rookie year where he was so good is the exception and not the rule. Was poor [as the starting RT] in Tennessee with the ninth worst grade of all tackles. Looked and played like a poor fit as a Titan and so it proved.

Value: It’s not a terrible deal but you’re still paying him like a starter. Oher has a reputation that will keep getting him a chance to play but at some point you have to allow some other team to take the chance. As desperate as Carolina might be for line help this seems an unnecessary punt.

the good news is that at least we have Remmers at one of the OT spots this whole year which is an upgrade from Chandler

PFF:

Week 13 Carolina Panthers – Performances of Note

Mike Remmers, RT, +0.8

Breakdown: ... Remmers replaced the injured Nate Chandler at right tackle this week. His overall performance isn’t going to turn any heads, but a perfect day in pass protection is practically uncharted territory for Carolina’s offensive tackles this year.

PFF:

Week 15 Carolina Panthers – Performances of Note

Mike Remmers, RT: +4.6

Breakdown: Have the Panthers found something in Remmers? A 2012 undrafted free agent out of Oregon State, he hasn’t just graded positively in each of his three starts this year, he’s actually improved in each. Perfect in pass protection, he also added some nice blocks against the run.

Signature Stat: Through the past three weeks, no offensive tackle has a higher Pass Blocking Efficiency Rating than Remmers’ 99.4.

12/27/2014 Charlotte Observer

PFF has given Remmers a positive grade in three of his four starts, with the only negative grade coming last week against the Browns when he allowed two quarterback hits. But through four games he has not allowed a sack.

Panthers @ Seahawks, Divisional Round

January 11, 2015

Mike Remmers, RT: -6.9

Breakdown: The former undrafted free agent put in some strong early showings for the Panthers in their run to the division title but was found out... in particular last night by the Seahawks’ trio of edge rushers. Remmers seemingly couldn’t get to grips with the speed of Cliff Avril in particular, surrendering pressure inside and out to the Seahawks’ defensive ends in almost equal measure.

Signature Stat: The seven pressures Remmers surrendered last night (2 Hits, 5 Hurries) were as many as he had surrendered in his first five starts for the Panthers.

Which is why I think a double dip is not only possible, but likely. If not day two at least early in day 3.
