DeMarco Murray expected to sign with Eagles Thursday

Yet again, with pretty much everything the eagles have done this offseason, I don't think this is a good move.  Murray had 396 carries last year, a TON in todays NFL.  After guys tote the rock that much, they always fall short of matching that kind of production the next season.  Remember Larry Johnson, Jamal Lewis, Jamal Anderson, and Eddie George all had these massive loads then either broke down the next year or just fell well short of the same production.  Add to this that Dallas has the best O-line in the NFL and #2 isn't close, I'm just not sure it was worth what they will pay when McCoy is as good if not better.

We pretty much broke Stephen Davis here that way.

Philly has a great oline.  Not sure why they'd want a workhorse back like Murray when they just had McCoy who I feel fits better into the misdirection, pass happy and speed based offense of Chip's.

Actually it's the opposite  - Chip's scheme calls more for a "north/south" one cut and go runner like a Frank Gore than a RB like McCoy. Seems odd considering the perception people have of the offense he runs but that is what Chip prefers.

This, along with tagging Dez, may be the smartest 2 moves the Dallas Cowboys have pulled in a long long time.

Dez has issues, more than we know about, and you just don't need to pay a running back big money in today's NFL, especially if you have a great O Line.

Hats off to the boys.  Seems strange to type that.

Considering both Mathews and Murray have had injury issues I find it smart to sign another good RB. It's a lot of money to invest in the Rb position but I'm guessing the Eagles plan on running the ball a lot more and Sproles plays a major role in special teams and the passing game.

Backs that played under Chip Kelly at Oregon:

Jonathan Stewart

Lagarrette Blount

Outside of Barner those two were prob the two best backs he coached. You need someone who can take punishment in this league. Not someone who loses yards as McCoy a lot last year.
