Schwartz doesn't look like he's making the team thus far either. I'd say we add an OT from another teams cuts before we keep him.

I think we will keep 5 DTs this year rather than 5 DEs.

Leman should make the team. He's earned it and we are a bit dinged up there also, so we need added depth.

I thought after the game 2 performance Moore would have gotten a shot last night. I think he is the better option at #2. I thought he earned the #2 spot last year after he finished up the 07 season. Clearly, he isn't one of Fox's boys.

Hayden will make the team...you don't start a player that's not going to make the team for 3 quarters in the 3rd preseason game. He won't be an every down player for us obviously, but at this point, I'm not sure there are any every down players on our DT bunch.

And this nonsense about some unknown coming in and making the team is pure fantasy. No one is going to give us a DT unless we give up even more draft picks which mean our first pick in the 2010 NFL draft would be in the 3rd round possibly, and all this, for someone that didn't train with us in training camp. We are likely to pick up a castaway like Terdell Sands (which is not going to happen, the man is beyond fat) or Jason Jefferson of the falcons.

I think this looks a lot more attractive...

I think everyone is too high on Leman, he had a really good game against the Giants but he was average against the Dolphins and Ravens. I have us keeping Hilee Taylor because I think he could be a great backup to Everette Brown once we let Peppers walk in the offseason, plus I'm a UNC fan lol. Birmingham has looked good and he plays on special teams, Goodson is so skinny he will most likely get injured this season and Birmingham could step in and be the #3 RB. Oh and I put *Unknown* because I don't think our other starting DT is here yet, it better not be Nick Hayden or we are doomed for a 7-9 season.

I will guess that Birmingham doesn't make the team. Leman does and Hayden stays on as well.

Perhaps Irvin doesn't make the team in place of Hayden and we still pick up another veteran NT.

edit: Not that I particularly want "Sack o' Meat" Hayden on the team but I suspect he will be.

    • I honestly didn't like trading up on the 2nd to draft a RB with a torn ACL. That didn't seem like a great move for this roster. But it wouldn't be a bad move if he proved to be a quality starter. But now signing Chuba to starter money on the hells of that? Yeah, that's significant roster building assets tied up in the RB position which has been a hallmark of the Panthers' roster building thought process over the years which has led to zero sustained success on the field.
    • But it's not a plug and play like teams were thinking.  Ask the Cowboys and the Bears thinking they were fine letting Montgomery walk.  Ask the Texans who had to trade for Mixon because their backfield held them back.  @Bear Handsbroke down the top running teams in the league and they have a very similar allocated of money/investments in the RB room.  It's a $15 million guaranteed contract over 4 years.  IF we are paying him the full 32 then he is playing very well and earning 8 plus million a year over 4 years.  I don't think we are doing the starter/backup scenario.  Our OC even said he has plays featuring both backs in the backfield.  We are trying to be a RB committee with a RB room that isn't that expensive compared to the league average.  IF Chuba plays to his top potential and we pay out all money he will average between Stevenson and Swift's average salary.
    • I'm just reporting it, not getting excited.  That will no doubt go down with new contracts. But because we've been drafting so many busts, there's no one in house to extend lol.  Could be spent on a lot of known resources.
